Default Squeaky Wheel When Telescoping

I've searched the forums thoroughly to make sure that I'm not missing something and have read about concerns with squeaks coming from the steering wheel when turning, but the problem I'm having is that when my car has been sitting out for a while in hot weather (like when I'm at work), I get a squeal from the steering column when the wheel telescopes upon startup. No problems when it's cold or moderate temperatures. It ONLY happens upon first startup when it's been sitting in hot weather and ONLY when telescoping. Any ideas on a solution?

That's a new one for me - I've never heard of anyone else getting a squeak when the steering column telescopes out.

It also happened with my 3GS and in that forum, they recommended, of all things, axle grease on the telescoping column mechanism. It worked well for that car, but before I go cracking into the column of this one I thought I'd check the 4GS forum. Given the lack of replies, I'm guessing this is a somewhat unique problem. Thanks.
