Default Passenger front side glass replacement

Found my front passenger side glass with a huge crack after dinner couple nights ago, got a estimate of almost 1000 with labor to replace it from a local dealer, also got an estimate from a local shop for 200 to replace with after market, does anyone know what the difference is with aftermarket vs OEM glass? Is it 800$ better than aftermarket? Thanks

They might have several options with aftermarket. If you don't have double pane front windows I say go aftermarket(pick the better option).

Check eBay for a factory window from a wrecked/salvaged GS. I found one ‘13-‘16 front, passenger side, single pane $198.11 with free shipping.

I checked lexuspartsnow.com and found the front door glass for my 2013 for $352.36, so about $400 with shipping.

Either way, get an oem piece and have a local shop replace it. It’ll be much less than $1000.

Exact same glass color as the original? Exact same thickness as the original? Exact same clarity as the original? Exact same lack of waviness and distortion as the original?

If it’s that EXACT, then it’s OEM, I know that thickness and color is OEM spec, and that’s all I care about, and it will get tinted anyway, so it won’t bother me too much

I just replaced an outer mirror assembly on my 14 RX and it literally took 20 minutes from start to finish. I watched a Tube vid. of a guy replacing the side door glass on a late model RX and it only took him about 20 minutes. You might consider replacing yourself.
