I can take some pics and list the instructions to program a key with techstream it's really easy and takes less than a minute. techstream list the instruction with pictures, it's idiot proof.

When I programmed my last key I erased all keys and programmed only the keys I had. That way the 2 original keys out in the world from the previous owner no longer work with the car.

Thanks again BaconRx for confirming the GSF card key works for 2016. Im placing my order now with Lexus of Stevens creek for the transmitter and key. Total comes out to $280.48 and with tax it totals $305.72.

but no programming yet. The parts department says i gotta call service department and ask for that pricing after he told me he believes its $215. The other dealers quoted 100/125.

I would do like peasodos and get the techstream from ebay and install yourself (only 15-20$ vs 70-100$ dealership would charge). also if you buy the key from one of the online dealers like lexuspartsnow or something they are usually cheaper. just google the parts number and they'll all come up

Actually some random microfiber pack I bought on Amazon. Not sure if the color means anything, but I used them when I ceramic coated my car earlier this year. I recommend everyone who waxes to try ceramic coating, last much longer and a lot stronger. You just have to make sure the car is super clean and do two passes with two different clean microfiber towels, once the coating flashes.

If your screw up like ceramic coat over a smudge/watermark, it's going to be sealed to the paint for years, unless you wetsand and buff it out.

Thanks Peasodos, I should be receiving the transmitter in a day or two, and Stevens creek charged me an additional 10 dollars to have the key based off my VIN number. I will look into the techstream option, I barely searched on ebay yesterday for it and saw there was version 13 and version 14 for that. So ill wait for your pictures and instructions to clarify which and what I need Thanks in advance.

I have version 10, so anything newer will work just fine. The only updates in the newer ones is support for the latest vehicles(version 14 supports 2020):

I see this one on ebay and its also located about 300 miles from me so it would arrive the quickest. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VCI-J2...d-JEw#shpCntId

Reading the description itll support 64 bit computers and his Diagnostic kit works on Toyota, Lexus and Scion cars from 1996 - 2018. This same software is used by dealers and Toyota specialists to diagnose faults, programming, coding etc.
So this looks great. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Put it in a desktop, rip a copy of the disk, then save it to memory stick, and install on laptop. That's what I did since my macbook air doesn't have a cd drive.

Yeah that will work nicely. You can change dealer only settings, do all sorts of diagnostics, way better than any obdII reader or scan tool on the market.

The desktop I built in 2015 doesn't have a ROM drive.

Might be a silly question but - does anybody know if the card key will work if you place it in a rfid blocking wallet?

I set this up on my 2016 MacBook Pro using VirtualBox and Windows XP. I used a USB-C adapter and it worked fine.

I followed these directions and got it to work. Installing the driver and setting up file drag and drop was the hardest part but overall it's not bad.
