Default Broke my driver side view mirror -- trying to fix reasonably

I upgraded my puddle lights to LEDs because the 12v bulbs didn't cast much light.

Good news: the LED puddle lights are an improvement.
Bad news: I cracked the driver side mirror glass right down the middle snapping it back in.

Here are options:
Used OEM mirror glass $200 (87961-30D40)
This is easy. $200 for a salvaged part is high, and it's just the mirror itself.
I was expecting more like $75-100.

Aftermarket side view including mirror $175 (equivilent to 87940-30D41-C0)
Is it possible this would work?
Is there any chance the mirror from this would snap into my housing?
Then someone else could make use of the rest of the side view?

I don't suppose anyone has a driver side mirror for a 2013 GS350 w blind spot detection and heat they'd like to part with?

Only an oem side mirror will work the aftermarket don't have bsm. If your replacing the side mirror part only make sure you get 2013, 2014+ side mirrors with bsm will throw the BSM light on the dash. Check Ebay, good luck they can get pricey.

The aftermarket I linked does have BSM. I found two companies that make a mirror clone w BSM.
The only question is whether the glass would actually be interchangeable.

I don't think they are. I also think there is missing something like auto dimming. I've seen somewhere were someone took the mirror out of the aftermarket, the connectors are different, you'd end up hard-wiring it.

I say find a used oem mirror.

Are you talking about this, where they slap it over the broken one?

Nope. I'm talking about the ebay auction I linked above: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Drivers-Pow...h/333256537948

It has BSM and heat. But it does not have dimming.

I managed to crack the passenger side glass and ordered the used OEM replacement off of Ebay. You basically have to break the old one whilst removing and I'm glad I had my indy do it.

There's no way I'd go with an aftermarket unit on this car.

Those that are saying only OEM and also very importantly the year only, at least with 2013. Been going through it myself for 6 months now. Have tried a couple OEM replacements that DONT work with the BSM. Has to do with different grounds or something. On a 13 you must have a confirmed 2013. AND,, if you dont have power folding mirrors, your replacement MUST be from a non folding car. Hope this helps save someone else from the hell and lesson learned I have been through

I replaced a cracked side mirror before. I purchased a 2014, but took it apart and swapped my 2013 BSM light over. The circuitry for the 2013 BSM light is different from 2014+ BSM light. It's just attached with silicone. So this is another option.

You first remove the outer trim on the side mirror glass, then the back part separates from the glass, from there you can remove the BSM light and wire. Then transplant the 2013 light. I think the side mirror I got for $80 on eBay the outer shell was damaged but the mirror was perfect. So this save me quite a bit of money. I guess the seller didn't realize he could have sold the mirror part alone for $150.

The left one is always the one that causes trouble.

@thekhmer was nice enough to sell me a used mirror.

He thought it was from a 2013, but the BSM wire polarity was backwards, could tell by comparing the leads from my broken mirror.
I removed the leads from the mirror plug and swapped them -- very happy to have known that could even be an issue thanks to @peasodos.

All good now!

I also painted my calipers this weekend: silver + clear coat. They look great, but I don't yet have after pictures.

Edit: I had just swapped the LED wires, and that seemed to work, but when I started the car next time, it threw a BSM error. I took the mirror apart and swapped the BSM LED from my original mirror, attached w hot glue. Now everything works. Note to self: be super crazy careful w these mirrors because replacing them is an expensive pita.
