Default Power Seat Reliability, with all those motors moving daily

I just purchased a 2013 GS 350, F Sport. How reliable are the power seats. With the automation to retract everything on exit, and put back to where it was on entry, isn't that excessive use. I'm debating if I should disable, just to preseve functionality later, i plan to keep this car, maybe for 10 years. Also, can the steering wheel retraction be disabled as well?

Thoughts?

Not using it would be more of a concern. These are systems engineered to work as intended. Having the motors sit static would probably do more harm than good. I wouldn't worry about it.

These motors are meant to last and it should one of the least of your concerns unless you are seeing odd behavior with them. I haven't had a power seat ever fail in any of my Lexus cars ('01 GS, '11 IS, my pop's '11 GS and my '13 GS).

That's good to hear, I was just surprised by what's going on, I mean, even the lumbar motors retracts back, really? I'm not really sure there's any benefit for myself, I could easily get in and out of the car without all that. I didn't really buy this car for all those gismos and the funkiest joystick control I've ever seen.

I just wanted a mid size sedan, RWD+AWD (for snow), reliability (most important), nonCV transmission, around 300 HP, and at least an attempt to solve GDI issues that plague older cars, somehow I meandered to this car in this process.

I think you can turn that off in the settings if you don't want the easy out feature to save on your motors.

Personally, I am not a fan of the "easy out" feature and disabled that right away when i purchased the car.

I’ve disable the seat too, but the stearing wheel does dance non the less. Is it possible to disable the wheel automovement somehow? No fat issues yet

If you're not going to use the many features of the vehicle because you are afraid they may fail due to use, you might as well not even have the vehicle...or keep it in the garage as a 'garage queen' and just look at it.

It's a Lexus, they've already tested the seats moving for like the equivalent of 50 years non-stop (and maybe not even hyperbole).

I second BCLexus. I personally enjoy having the seat and steering wheel move to me when I sit down, and either put the seat belt on, or push the power button. It is like she is inviting me to sit down, relax, get ready to enjoy your drive ahead. And when I park, she is saying way to go, you made it, now ease yourself out without worrying about hitting your knee on the steering wheel or bumping your head. Have a nice day till I see you again. And yes, I have a vivid imagination, but I still like the egress feature......

They're pretty robust: if I accidentally hit my wife's seat setting instead of my own, the car has no trouble slowing killing me against the steering wheel.

My driver's seat makes banging noises when reclining but it hasn't broken yet....I don't expect it to last the life of the car.

Mine doesn't bang when reclining but it does clunk. It only occurs if I'm leaning against the seat back while reclining; if I lean forward to take my weight off it, it reclines clunk-free. It's really a non-issue since I have the seat set how I like it and even through the clunk, it reclines normally--for now anyway.

Lexus has an issue with door actuators, another mechanical bit that ought to work flawlessly for the life of the car but, sadly, do not. If you don't find the seat retraction a necessary feature, disabling it may be prudent.

I turned off the easy exit seat movement. Thought the same thing about overuse plus I don't need for it to readjust. The steering wheel retraction has to be done at the dealer. As the wheel detracts away from me it also goes down. I have long legs and was very difficult to get out.
