Default Service Alert light, how to turn off?

I have had the service alert light on for a couple months for oil change/filter/tire rotation, went to the schedule in the menu and tried to reset it but no luck, then I did the odometer pressing trip A and holding it and it still did not go away. What do you do to get that yellow light off/message for the 4th Gen GS?

Have you actually done (or had done) what the service light told you to do.....oil change, rotation, etc.....? First, there is no sense in resetting it if you haven't. Second, on some vehicles (I'm not sure if your GS is one of them) , for that precise reason, only a service technician can reset the light.

In the Maintenance menu, you can turn off the Reminder. This will prevent reminder messages being displayed on the Nav screen when the car is started. But your problem is the service light in the dashboard display. This doesn't seem like a reminder but rather a warning due to an error code. You can run the Carista app to pull up error codes and reset them to make the light go away.

Thanks, I accidentally posted this in Car Chat when it should have been in 4 GS forum.

Here is a video on how to get rid of the light

Basically set it to trip A, cut off the car, hold the odometer button and press the start button twice while your foot is off the brake. Should reset the yellow service light

LOL, I completely forgot about this! I even did it a few months ago! The instructions are similar for the GS and LS.

Tried this and it worked, wish I asked this question before I went on a long trip with it constantly on.

It comes on every 5k miles. I wish I could disable it completely. Since I use the maintenance reminders in the head unit and that has no connection to the service light in the dash. Resetting one doesn't reset the other, they are seperate reminders.

Rotating tires every 5k miles is a waste of money and time. I rotate every 10k miles myself with oil changes I do myself. It's a scam to get you to go to the dealership every 5k miles for tire rotation. Only the 10k service intervals are important.

In order to maintain tread wear warranty you must follow the rotation recommendations of the tire manufacturer. Michelin Tires recommends 6,000 - 8,000 miles. Pirelli recommends 5,000 - 7,000 miles, etc.

Yeah well that's some BS as long as your rotating it at consistent intervals. Doing it at 10k is more convenient for me and so far great tire wear no issues or irregularities.

Tires in the Dallas area rarely last the rated mileage, which I suspect is true in many other areas of the country as well. To receive the rebate adjustment when tires don't last anywhere near their rated mileage I want to have documentation that the tires had been rotated per the tire manufacturer's recommendations so there is no problem with them honoring the warranty. I buy tires for all my vehicles from Discount Tire so every 5,000 miles I have them rotate and re-balance my tires at no charge so there is documentation it has been done.

So if someone rotates their own tires, they can be denied warranty coverage? How do you document your own work? Keep a log I guess.

Costco offers the same rotation service but I haven't had my tires long enough for a rotation, just long enough for a full tire replacement. LOL
