Even though the handle is metal to the touch, it feels and sounds like plastic when pulling on it. It creaks like cheap plastic especially when it’s heated up after being parked in the sun. I wish it had more heft and dampening like the new ES, LS, and LC handles.

Not yet. I thought the ones in my 2017 were plastic until your taste test.
The spring for the handle and parts were latch and door lock attaches are very well lubed up on mine. Looks like something with the consistency of petroleum jelly. Its thick stuff, maybe your handle doesn't have the lube or somethings wrong with it. Also the plastic door handle has a mold seam line on the top side of it. like in this pic:
No line on my 2017 handles. All of my handles creak on a hot day when pulling the handle and using your arm to push open the door. My car is almost 3 years old now but I can’t remember if the handles creaked when I first got the car or developed over time.

That's weird even my 2013 plastic handles don't do that.
