Default 2016 GS350 F Sport Media USB Question

Hi All - Is there a way I can use my IPhone or Android (I have both for personal and work) to connect to my media dash and play music while being connected to the USB?

I was able to do this on other cars such as a Honda accord and BMW 6 series. I want to play music thru the USB cord and still being able to control the track list with my steering wheel.

I know I can use Bluetooth but the sound isn't as good. Auxiliary doesn't let you control the track list and you have to manually do it thru the phone.

When my phone is plugged in thru the USB it will only charge my phone but not connect in the media through the navigaton area. The USB selection is phased out and won't let me selecit.

TIA!

Check you settings on your phone. You may have a USB lock turned on. iPhone depending on the OS will have this in the passcode settings.

I appreciate the follow up.

I went through my USB settings for my Samsung Note 9 and no luck. I tried to contact Samsung and they said it might be Lexus? Has anyone ever used their Android connected with a USB to their car radio for their 2016 GS 350?

There has to be a way to do this.

I work at a Lexus dealership and also own a 2017 GS. Ive seen plenty of customers use the USB method to play/control music with an android but not sure specifically about the Note 9. Maybe try going to your nearest Lexus dealer and have their tech specialist take a look?

Everything I read about it talked about you phone needing to be in a certain mode so that data could be read off of it. This may have applied to older versions of the phone OS. Do you see any notifications show up when you initially connect the phone to the car?

Are you sure you have a data cable and not a charge only?

There is, you want the usb connection options. If the below doesn't work, it may be the cords fault.

How to transfer files to Note 9?
How To Transfer Files From Galaxy Note 9 To PC
  1. Connect the USB cable to the port of your phone and to your PC USB port.
  2. On your phone, slide your finger downwards starting from the top of the screen.
  3. Tap the connection icon.
  4. Tap for other USB options.
  5. Tap Transfer Files to turn on the option.

^This. Trying using the original USB cable that came from Samsung with your Note 9 and connect to the car's USB in the center armrest.

Echoing use of factory cables.

Like yourself, I don't believe in feeding these excellent sound systems crap so I also avoid bluetooth. I ended up getting an Ipod Touch which is the only way to have an integrated lossless source of music capable of mass storage(inc voice control)

Hey Everyone!

Thank you for your feedback! Much appreciated!

I'm going to try to bring it to the Lexus dealership and speak with a tech person. I am using the stock USB cable that came with the Samsung phone. I tried to go into my USB settings and update it but it is still working. It shows up as an error message saying I have to reconnect and try again but nothing happens. I do have my work phone which is an Iphone 7 and when I plugged that in, it required me to download the Lexus Enform app then it started working. I downloaded the app on my Android and it's still not working.

I'll keep trying and keep you all posted.

The cable is for charge and transferring data. It is directly from Samsung and I've transferred files out of my phone to my laptop/hard drive before.

The iPhones work the way you would like. Samsung's will not work the same. I've has Samsung S8+, S9, Note9 and now Note 10+. I can never get it work and the files display on the screen. I just assumed our cars wasn't android happy like the iPhone.

PS. I have a iPhone for work and only play music from it. Samsung are professional phones.
