Smile Looking at the 2016 Lexus GS350 (no F sport)

Hi All,

First time posting and new member. I did a quick search and saw brakes may last 40K miles.

I'm looking to buy an used 2016 Lexus GS350 (non F Sport) with less than 40K miles. Any advice on things that I should watch out for?

What's the good and the bad for the vehicle?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

The 4GS was refreshed in 2016 so new wheel options, safety system +, full screen nav, revised LED tails, revised front bumper, revised steering wheel and interior updates (https://pressroom.lexus.com/lexus-20...-product-news/).

If its in your budget, i'd look for one with the Luxury package but its very hard to find.

Standard wear/tear items to look for are wheels/tires/brakes/rotors/suspension to make sure they are up to snuff before buying. There aren't any major issues with any 4GS model so there isn't much I can add to the list of "bad." Anything under 40k miles will still have some remaining bumper to bumper factory warranty (4yr/50k) so that will give you some peace of mind.

A 3 year old GS is still pretty much "new", so there's really nothing "to look out for". At this point it's all about what options do you prefer to have, and did the previous owner(s) perform the required services. Use Lexus Drivers, register and use the site to search for your vehicle's service records and options list. You;ll also find the in-service date so you'll know how much warranty there's left. Maybe the service records might indicate something "bad", as might Carfax. I say might because it depends on the dealers/shops reporting repairs and accidents... they don't always.

Good luck and Happy shopping!

Off the top of my head, the options on a 16 F Sport would be the safety suite (radar cruise with PCS, auto high beams, lane keep assist, etc.), triple beam LED headlights, Mark Levinson stereo, HUD, and power trunk. The safety suite became standard in 2017.

There's also Lexus Dynamic Handling with rear-wheel steering. Don't think the orange brake calipers or limited-slip diff were available yet for '16.

It feels way more stiff than I really want and staggered wheels means I'm unable to rotate the tires. So I'll be needing tires every 20K miles or so. Haven't see a Prefer luxury Package on an used 4GS available yet.

@websurfer the Lux pkg is very rare on 2016+ but include the nicer leather seats that are 18way adjustable, wood steering/leather steering wheel, upgraded interior wood trim, S+ driving mode, 19" non staggered wheels, etc. The premium package models are more widely available for sure.

Here is an example of a 2016 Lux package 4GS (those LCDs in the headrests are aftermarket though): https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...2841/overview/

Damn that stitched leather steering wheel looks nice but gauges look old. They should do it like the ES where all the gauges are digital for both F and non F, just different layout and design. But the GS is dead anyway that's why they're not doing anything to it. Glad I got my F Sport already.

DVDs....LOL. Grief. 1990s technology 30yrs later. Sooner or later Lexus may be able to update their entertainment options to just be streaming with no need for physical discs.

But yeah, those headrests are not OEM.

Also, if you're limited to RWD based on your location, finding triple beam LED headlights will be next to impossible.
