Hitting road debris is considered a collision claim, could definitely make the rates go up. However, thats what insurance is for, if you're not going to submit a claim for a $3k repair you should have a huge deductible, because paying for a lower deductible is silly if you're not going to use it unless its a catastrophic claim
What if your car is totaled?
Insurance will get their money back and then some, this is why I have zero coverage and pay $26 a month for liability. I've banked thousands over the last 14 years. Your better off putting that money you would have paid in premiums into a saving account and withdrawing from that is there is ever an issue.
