GS 350 Reservoir line

I believe that is suppose to be read when its cooled down completely otherwise it will be overfilled and poor out of that overflow tube. mine is at or around min when on and then after cooling its usually up to full

The 2GS had a little notch that the overflow line snapped into and kept it pointed down, always impressed me that someone thought to do that.
Several hidden touches that found their way into the 2GS got lost on their way to the 4GS.

Insert the tube end down into the round molded tab on the reservoir. That's all, it just resides there. The tube is for overflow in the event the cooling system is full and the reservoir is overfilled (filled to the top) when cold. The hot expanded (excess) coolant will flow through this tube and out of the system.
