Carlinkit Android Auto Apple Carplay for $319
#17
The point in GROM is having a fully functioning android device allowing you to use any android app. Take a drive in my car with YouTube Music playing music video's vs just audio and you will see its much better than Android Auto or Apple Carplay. If I leave work late I can still watch live NFL games on my way home. Wreck on the highway and your just sitting there not moving, no worries I fire up Netflix or Hulu and get caught up on shows.
I almost wish I had never tired GROM because I wouldn't know what I was missing. Now I can never buy a car that doesn't provide the same options as GROM. I've used Android Auto before in another car and it doesn't come close to competing with GROM.

Does anyone know how the aliexpress one will display on the 12.3 inch screen? I'm worried it'll be stretched to fit rather than fitting with the correct resolution. See the difference below. I asked the seller and am waiting to hear back.

I am following this thread with great interest. Thanks! I was watching the BeatSonic install on a 2013 Lexus and the dip switch setting on that unit is 5.
Here is the video and relevant portion:
FF to 6:50 if the link doesn't jump to the right time.
Good luck!!

@peasodos The seller sent me these. Not sure if you received these as well, posting them in case they can help you out in some way.
For our car only dip switch 1 and 2 in the down position.
The unit only uses the left portion of the screen, like the stock navigation, not full screen at least on my 2013 GS.

Right, the 2013-2014 can't do the full screen stretch even with the GROM unit.
So how nice is the image? Is it sharp?
What can this unit do? Is it only for (wireless) Carplay and Android Auto or does it do anything standalone?

The image is crisp just like the factory images, better than the standard definition screen mirroring kit I had before. Everything is HD.
Right now I'm trying to get android auto working. I ordered a USB cab for android auto since apparently not every cable works correctly.

Peasodos, you are my hero!. I go back and forth on getting an Apple car play unit, but if it is truly wireless, and retains the factory features, and I am not running cords up and down and everywhere else, then I may have to try this. Anyone with an Apple phone try this yet?
