Probably due to all of Apple's BS certification process. I don't blame they for not officially supporting. But it does work just fine. I have not heard anyone complain about CP. You can contact member @bob256k@c2fordy5@yelloiroc
I know they have VL2 and CP working in their cars.
Carplay is not officially supported but it works fine with my car, even hey siri works great. I do have the occasional reboot but i guess for what its worth it's ok given the new carplay stuff in lexus is ok, and carplay on the VL2 works better. I'm surprised I even typed that given the difficulties I've had in the past with GROM, but I have tested a few carplay stereos, both OEM aka lexus ES and aftermarket , alpine, and the VL2 works great. I think the hardware they choose for the VL2 is what makes the difference, the rockchip SOC and amount of ram are well above the requirements to run Carplay.
dumb question.. do you have to pay customs tax if the item is ordered from china and priced high as this item? ($300)..

No customs fee. I've even purchased $500 worth of item overseas and never paid anything for customs. I'm not sure what it takes to get charged customs or maybe how they fill out the form. I've never paid customs for anything I've purchased overseas.
According to the seller the switch 2 and 3 are supposed to be on the on position and their system is suppose to display on the entire screen, not just the left side of it. They also confirmed it will work on my 2013 gs, I sent a pic of the back of my head unit.
This is the problem I'm having, the mouse works on the right side of the screen and simultaneously moves the left side of the screen. But If I move the mouse on the left side I can't control anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMan4CNy7kw

Going to be the guy that bumps this. Installed a VL2 lite in my 3rd gen GS, looking at a Grom, and alternatives, for my 4th gen.
For my trial with it this is meant for GS with full screen map. If you have a 2013-2015 GS I would go for something else. I would reccomendation beatsonic, yeah is a bit pricey but their system is guaranteed to work and support is great.
I've seen other carplay/android auto systems pop up on eBay from other sellers that carlinkit, might be worth the look. Just search for it.
Ended up getting the Grom VL2 Lite. $430 with the doggle and warranty, really just looking for CarPlay anyways and have had good performance so far with it in another car

Sorry I had to chime in on this one. Take a look at those pictures I literally just took on my car to show you. I have a 17 F Sport using GROM VL2. Wireless CarPlay is coming soon in March via a firmware update. No extra dongle will be needed GROM homepage. Notice Airplay. You can use that to mirror your phone. CarPlay. No stretching CarPlay Dashboard YouTube on the GROM side as a bonus.

Haha... good catch man. It is a crack. Small rock nicked my windshield on the highway and within a few days, it spread into that giant crack. Getting it fixed soon
It should still be stated youtube is only a side bonus if you have wifi available to connect GROM to.
For someone who just wants to Android Auto/Apple Carplay- I would avoid the rest of GROMs features and go with BeatSonic
