Sorry to hear. Hopefully it won't be too expensive to replace

For someone who just wants to Android Auto/Apple Carplay- I would avoid the rest of GROMs features and go with BeatSonic
That’s your prerogative to go with whatever you want. I only posted those into this thread just to proof that CarPlay on the GROM unit has no stretching issues with the GS gens like mine. Having the others as an option is definitely a bonus. How much is the beatsonic unit again?

Not at all. Insurance is covering it with no problems.

Does Grom affirmatively say the unit will provide CarPlay now? Because they didnt used to, I understand that it does but if I have issues I don't want to hear 'well we never said it would work with CarPlay"

‘‘Tis the lates newsletter I’ve got from. Also, with my experience with support, they’ve been pretty responsive and addressed issues I’ve had with CarPlay before. So I’d vouch for them in that area

Ok so today I gave Carlinkit another shot, since now that I have 2016 navigation and full screen maps.
Carlinkit currently only works on 2016+ Navigation, for 2013-2015 you will have the mouse control problem I had earlier in this post, they are still trying to work on a fix for it.

Everything works and the best part is it supports wireless android auto(newer version of android auto supports wireless, you have to enable it) and wireless apple carplay. Once you get it setup it will automatically connects to your phone, no need to plug it in!

Also carlinkit supports aftermarket backup cameras, I connected my universal alpine and bam full screen backup camera! As soon as you put the car in reverse regardless if your switched into the carlinkit interface it will automatically switch the screen to your aftermarket backup camera.

Damn that full screen camera makes my stock backup cam look like a joke.

How much of the screen does the stock backup camera take up on 2016+ GS?
Just 2/3 like 2013-2015?

I plan on getting a better alpine backup camera, I got a cheap one to test this out.

It's the same as ur stock 2013 cam and the newer cars like RC and ES with big nav screen and without 360 cam is just as bad, it just fills the middle of the screen with the same size and left the sides with back bars.

You can even turn on guidance lines, that turn with the steering wheel and if you didn't have sonar sensors you can setup the radar lines in the image so it beeps when you get close to the bumper.

I have also seen aftermarket kits to add 360 birds eye view camera. Just have to install front, and side mirror cameras. The side mirror camera also just replaces the bottom cover of the side mirror, for a less invasive install. But I think that's overkill for this car full screen backup camera is more than enough.

Oh yea mine has the guidance lines that turn with the steering wheel. I don't think my 2014 had that before.

Looks sick widescreen, but yah that stretched look would be annoying to me too.
