Default Lexus Sept Sales - Brutal month

Lexus sales report out the GS only sold 193 Units and the IS only sold 844. Lexus really needs to wake up it takes too long for refreshes and too long for new models! I feel like they need a new team at Lexus sales down 16.7 % is horrible. They need to focus on the cars/SUV's and work on the boats and planes later. I hope Lexus doesn't become another Acura or Infiniti

How do these numbers compare to all Lexus models? And how do they compare to the rest of the auto manufacturers?

Where do you get these numbers? I'd like to look into it myself.

I can't believe they sold more than 3 brand new GS in a month

Most manufacturers were down last month. Audi was down 17%, Toyota down, Honda down, etc. I think only BMW and Mercedes had modest gains. There were no holidays and I think 3 fewer selling days in the month, which certainly didn't help. A pretty big downturn in the whole industry, though in August Lexus was number 1 in luxury sales. Curious to see what happens next month to see if any trends are starting to develop.

Agree OP but seems like Toyota/Lexus is OK with the GS sales numbers since UX/NX/RX sales are good...sales of these three SUVs have only increased year over year filling up the total sales # while sedan sales are just blah over the last 3 years.

GS sales for 2019/2020 will be similar to GS sales in 2010/2011 - I remember in 2014 before I got my IS, I was thinking that if I could find a certified '11 GS460 i'd get one of those...how naive I was as less than 30 GS460's were delivered in 2011 (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/715405-gs460-owners-you-wanna-know-how-rare-your-gs-is-4.html#post10536588).

Can't imagine how low GS sales numbers will be in 2020 considering the 2019 numbers!

Sales were bad and low for pretty much all manufactures in Sept.

I don't understand why Lexus won't put the 3.5tt from the LS500 in the current IS and GS to try to boost sales and interest, the new LS is not exactly setting the world on fire with sales and selling way below expectations so they likely have plenty of engines in the pipeline that aren't being used. It would fill a huge gap for buyers who may want a GS but want more power then the standard V6 but don't want to pay or can't afford 85K for the GS-F. The LC and RC should get the 3.5tt too, why just limit the tt V6 to one model that is not selling well?

Im willing to bet that putting the LS motor into the IS and GS would raise the price significantly even if detuned and for the GS it would make it damn near close in power to their GS which would be shooting themselves in the foot. I am however very disappointed in the fact that they went with a TTV6 for the LS instead of the traditional V8.

I bought a Lexus ES 350 FWD TERRIBLE car could not wait even 3 months before I traded it in for a GS 350 AWD . The GS 350 AWD is a decent car but seemed to lack pick up so a when I went for my 3rd oil change I decided to buy a LS 460 L AWD in 2011 . This car is a keeper .

After test driving the LS 500 I hated the feel and the grill is heidious at best so I opted for a BMW 750 I with the M package and executive package
The BMW cost over $123,000 and the Car although fun to drive cannot compare to the LS 460 in comfort and luxury for the rear passengers

Shame Lexus took a classic model and screwed with it . They need to go back to the drawing board

Now I have top of the "flag ship" of Lexus and BMW so I think I will hold on to both of them for a while as the Lexus is much more dependable

Yes, car market is slowing as is the overall market.
Lexus isn't unique...

Yeah that should’ve kept the V8 option for the LS and also kept the L version the new LS is small in my option. When compared to the pervious generation.

yeah that’s the problem they are “ok” with a lot they really need to redevelop these cars more power and Technology. I have a GS now but my only options I’m currently looking at is the GX and RX. I don’t want another GS unless it’s redesigned. ES is nice but I don’t want to FWD car. So I’m stuck 🙄

yeah the updated GX comes out this month so maybe that would help.

Supra and IS/GS shared the 2JZ in the 90's.

Supra today gets the B58.

What should the next-gen IS/GS get?

Is it so difficult Lexus? Only the engine though, keep everything else Lexus.

I don't know, would it really raise the price putting a motor that has already been engineered for a RWD sedan in a older car/platform along with some other Lexus models or would Lexus just raise the price/premium significantly because they think they have to or want to get some nice profits from it. I don't think the engine in the LS is too particularly expensive or exotic to build to warrant a big uptick in price, there is no reason they need to de tune it for the GS or other models either, the GS430 had 300hp and was quicker then the LS430 with 290hp from the same basic engine at the same time and there were no issues, they sold a ton of LS430's at that time. I am also disappointed the LS500 did not get a traditional V8 as the standard engine, I think that is a big part of why it is not selling well along with its looks/interior.
