Unhappy Navigation Mouse Button doesn't go down

Hi Everyone,

I just recently purchased a CPO 2016 Lexus GS350. There were a number of surprises which I didn't expect in a CPO car. For one, the navi mouse button functionality seems funny.

Maybe I'm not exactly sure how the Navigation Mouse Button really works on the GS350. On my vehicle it seems the navigation mouse doesn't really allow push down, is that the same for other Lexus GS350? The navi mouse moves fine from left to right and up and down though.

On the 2016 ES350, it will allow the button to be pushed down. The menu button works but is slow in bounce back from being pressed, same for the arrow button. The back button and Map button works fine. I had a local dealer clean it for $200 but didn't fix it. Seems not too much better than before. The dealer said they will not change it. I still have 1 year of warranty plus the CPO warranty on the vehicle.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I've had loaners 16+ GS's that the mouse worked the same as my 14 GS. I was able to push it down for selecting items on the screen. It might just needs to be replaced.

The screen will go back to the maps screen after about 20 seconds if not touched. That setting can be changed in settings. If it's glitching back, than it will need further diagnostic.

It sounds like someone spilled coffee or soda all over the center stack near the navi buttons.

For the mouse, you should be able to push it down to make a selection. Its very easy to swap out the actual "joystick" with a new one as you just pull up and it releases. I would try pushing it down with a little force directly from up top to see if it "clicks" down and sets into place. If you're more adventurous, remove the joystick by pulling straight up. Then push it back down into place and see if that helps.

If a particular Lexus dealer won't address the problem, then you should take it to another Lexus dealership that might be willing to help.

BTW: What did the local dealer do exactly to clean it for $200??

Right? I was actually thinking a warranty repair since it’s CPO.

Thanks everyone for chiming in on the functionality.

The 1st service advisor charge me $198 (to be exact). So I went back to dealer today and they finally took care of the issue. It was impossible to push down at mouse button, menu button didn't bounce back after being pressed.

Now after the cleaning, it works so far like new. I think they pry the unit open and clean the inside. Kind of doubt anything cleaned it last time, the first advisor wanted me to change the unit out after I call back that it's still an issue.

I feel blessed today that it's fixed. The switch parts are over $1200+ alone and button piece was around $500+ after I got a quote.

The 1st advisor indicated it's not a warranty repair given it's an used vehicle and it's a customer fault thing even though I purchased it CPO. Next time, I may not purchase CPO. I didn't see much value add besides some warranty extension on the power-train and 4 free maintenance.

I guess it depends whom you get as a service advisor.

Didn't you get an L/Certified book or pamphlet or something? The CPO is far more than just an extended powertrain warranty. Do not trust others to educate you, especially salesmen and service advisors, no matter how helpful and courteous they seem... pick up that dang warranty book and do some reading yourself. In today's world it's up to the consumer to be in the know.

I don't recall getting any L/Certified book. I even called Lexus and they said whatever the advisor says is what's covered. The 1st advisor is saying almost all isn't covered which I know is total BS. The 1st service advisor was definitely one I wouldn't recommend. I wondering, I should fill out the survey with choice words.

I was wondering if I needed to pay for the repair if CPO covered it.

Sometimes meeting the "right" service advisor can do wonders. I would suggest that next time anyone has a problem and not getting the answer they like from the first one (AKA: Wanted to drain ur wallet), go to a different dealer or talk to another advisor on a different day.

I guess I'm blessed today right the right advisor and a good mechanic that fixed it.

I made a point of getting to know the service manager at my local dealer. They tend to know a little more than the advisors. I always make a point to visit with him every time I'm in for service whether I need his assistance or not. Doesn't hurt to have a positive relationship with a manager.

Default Mouse Button doesn't go down

My mouse button wouldn't go down either. I found that someone had removed the button and replaced it backward. The bevel of the button should match the console. Just pull it straight up and it should come off easily.
