Default Installed the RR Racing tune

Just installed the rr racing tune last night and here are my takes on what I think.

1) Engine response is definitely better it is quicker to respond even in the lower rpms. For example, pre tune if I’m cruising at ~40 mph and if a light is about to turn red and I wanna beat the light the engine feels lazy and is kind of slow to respond when I mash the peddle. In addition, I feel like there’s a dead Space when pushing at ~30%. After tune when I do the same the engine responds almost immediately and you can feel it pulling harder.

2) this probably only applies in normal mode but I feel like lexus tuned the car for gas efficiency it made the engine lazy. With the tune it just feels like it wants to be pushed and pushed hard. I know putting it in sport + will make the engine respond instantly but it’s just nice be able to have the engine respond quickly in normal mode also. Speaking of sport + I haven’t gotten a chance to do lots of hard pulls but the couple of times I did hard pulls it definitely pulls harder.

3) I feel like the transmission wants to be in the gear I want to be in when I’m not in manual mode. And it wants be in the lower gears when I want to push it.

4) The 7200 rpm redline just keeps the engine screaming and screaming.

I only have a takeda intake and apexi throttle controller. I know that they probably won’t add much to the tune but the intake just sounds so nice at redline. I don’t know how much the apexi throttle controller helps with the throttle response but honestly when I just had the apexi I feel like it didn’t do much. Yes it made the throttle response a tiny bit better but for me it not really worth the price.

for my initial impression I am enjoying the tune and think that so far it is the best mod I did on my car. I know a lot of people on this forum say it’s expensive for little gains and that almost persuaded me to not get the tune, but for me the tune changes the way the engine feels and it addressed the gripes I had on this engine before I got the tune and that alone is worth it to me.

I’d recommend people who have not driven our car with the tune to try it. Hopefully you guys feel what .I feel.

i will try to upload a video since there is basically none for our cars

Does this improve the 0-60 time? From the sound of it, it should pull harder and faster and that means quicker 0-60 right?

It does feel like it, but I can't say the 0-60 time improve right now. RR Racing manual does say to drive the car about 50 miles for the ECU to do some learning and do long pulls from 3k-6.8k. I will try to get a video this weekend so you can look at my pulls from 0-60 and see any improvements.

If u can get it under the stock time of 5.7-5.8 then I'd say it's an improvement.

You can but aren't you curious to see if the tune makes a difference for you pre mid pipe?

By being in the lower gears for an extra 500+ RPMs over stock and maintaining the same powerband, it will lower the 0-60 times.

@redspencer When are you going to put up more youtube videos? So your IS350 really puts down 300 rwhp? Also don't you have a sugura loop exhaust?

Dang it. I guess folks are noticing that it's been a while since my last vid. Lol. I've been extremely busy with work the past 2-3 months which kept me inactive with the Lexus community. Now that things are slowing down at the office and the weather is getting cooler, I'll be back to posting new videos fairly soon.

I'm running the TRD/F-Sport Exhaust with Megan Racing Midpipes and PPE headers. The combination sounds intoxicatingly good.
