Default Heater steering wheel

I have a 2016 GS350 f sport with heated steering wheel, but it feels more lukewarm. Doesn't really warm my hands like my old '08 Maxima. Does anyone else have this too, or are they made like that?

It seems to vary, but I'm sure yours is "per spec".

My 15 would get nice and warm. My 19 doesn't get nearly as warm, but is sufficient. Similarly over at Toyota...my 16 Highlander's wheel would get so warm I'd have to turn it off else I'd have sweaty hands. But on my 19 Highlander, it's just about how my 15 GS was.

My 2013 gets really warm. I shut it off after a while because it gets too hot for me.

Disappointing but not unexpected warmth from my 2018 GS350 FSport.

I will note turning the seat heater off auto and onto '3' seemed to get that hotter but no impact on the wheel.

My hopes were not high after my 15' IS250 which was lukewarm at best.

Neither car touches my wife's old 14' Volvo XC60. Guess the Sweeds know cold a bit better than the the Japanese. Either way it's a shame we can't up the temp.

2017 GS350 non F-sport w/premium pkg and cold weather pkg. The heated steering wheel only gets to lukewarm even after 15 minutes of driving. Heated seats also only gets to lukewarm and do not seem to get any hotter. This is very uncomfortable on cold Ohio winters in Feb-March. I had to drive with gloves on. I thought the whole purpose of heated steering wheel is so I can drive without gloves. Very disappointed with the cold weather package.

My 2013 F-Sport doesn’t have it, and here in southern Arizona, I don’t miss it. All the new cars at the local Lexus dealers seem to have heated steering wheels. Seems like just a way to run up the price.

Heated steering wheel on my '13 gets lukewarm but I actually prefer it - even in cold temperatures, I noticed that the combo of the heater, heated seat and heated steering is enough to keep me warm while inside the cabin.

So here in central Florida, we have finally been getting some cooler temperatures like in the mid 50's in the morning. Could finally test out my heated steering wheel and seats on my 13 450h. Even at the mid 50's, the steering wheel felt warm, not hot, so I never felt the need to turn it off. The seat heater runs and I do not turn on the heat. The seat heater seems to adjust the levels on its own it seems so I start out with three lights, and after a while, it is on one light. I do not feel uncomfortably hot in the seats either. But then again, I am using this in the mid 50's, so it is not really that cold out anyway. I don't know how they would feel if heaven forbid it got down to the 30's. I did notice, the engine seems to be a little rougher when starting out. As in when it starts up and shuts down, it seems to vibrate just a little more. Like it is a harsh transition to EV only.

Here in Cincinnati around Feb-March time frame, there will be two weeks where the temperature drops to the low-teens. After parked on the company lot for 9+ hours, everything inside the car feels freezing to the touch. This is when having the heated steering wheel and seats actually make sense, if it actually works. It takes a good 5 to 7 minutes for the steering wheel to go from freezing to body temperature, and another 5 minutes to actually feel any heat coming out of the steering wheel. By that time I'm already 1/3 of the way home and the interior has heated up to the point where I no longer needed the heated steering wheel.

The engine sounded like a diesel during startup at these temperature. There was another forum on engine clatter during cold startup. Based on the discussion this is normal for the 2GR-FSE engine.

I have it on my 17

It's God awful. By the time it has any effect the inside of the car is comfortable.

Unless things really changed, I love the heated steering wheel on my 2013. Last winter I drove to work twice when it was -55 degrees wind chills in Chicago, yes -55 degrees. It was negative teens ambient temps. I took my gloves off after about 5 minutes because the steering wheel heated up that quickly.

Mine gets pretty warm to pretty hot and is pretty quick to warm up. My seat heaters get pretty warm, Lexus seat heaters never seem to get very hot, just pretty warm at most. My parents Acura's seat heaters get hot, so hot you have to turn them off or down even on cold winter days after a while.

Steering wheel seems fine to me, on the real cold days I keep gloves on anyway (park outside). Seats I never have higher than 1 no matter what...

Mine is majority wood and only hot on the leather sides. Wish the whole wheel was leather!
