Unless signdetres swapped out tires, his RWD F Sport came with summer tires.
I would get a good set of all season tires even if I lived in Florida, plus I think they last longer than summer tires.

+1

From experience, summer tires in any amount of snow will end in disaster

RWD with a set of snow tires

RWD with A/S tires is fine as long as you drive cautiously and smart

I've driven in snow with the GS 450h on all season and also a GS 430 with summer tires. The hybrid has a battery pack that helps create weight in the rear so thats the benefit and some good all season or winter tires. The 430 was useless couldn't really get anywhere not even up a gas station incline was stuck so I would def get some snow chains if you plan to use your car, the stability control should be able to really help you. You can drive a RWD car in snow just need either the tires or chains, and you would need four as you have summer tires.

Amazon Amazon

These won't scratch your rims.

Just the fact that the chains are mounted with straps rubbing against the wheels would be a no go for me. As clean as your GS is, I don't think you'd want to scratch your wheels with any traction device. Rent something and be done with it.

The part that touches the actual rim is rubber/plastic. Road debris, salt, is more abrasive than a nylon strap. 9 people gave it 5 stars on amazon:

Thank you, everyone, for all the info & advice. Doesn't seem worth the risk taking the GS, with or without tires chains, at this point & I definitely don't want to drive in the snow on summer tires. Most likely I'll end up taking my mom's QX50 instead.
