Thanks for the replies everyone.

Nope, it's no where near high. I probably will point this out when I do my oil change service.

Here is an image of the Owners Manual page that shows more information:

Maybe the light sensor is not working anymore.

Try this:
Using your DISP button (on the steering wheel) see if you have the option of switching it to go back to Night Mode. I think turning Off Day Mode (or selecting Night Mode) will automatically make the default go back to default Night Mode, which will auto-dim your NAV screen when the sensor detects low light level.

FYI - If I'm not mistaken, to achieve full time Day Mode (which is what you say you have now) actually requires that the car be fully in the dark with all sensors (headlights, mirrors & NAV screen) sensing darkness. Then, and only then, will you have the Night Mode option be triggered and made available on your DISP to change it to Day Mode (which is what you have now and want to get rid of). This Day Mode option (using DISP button that you have now) will likely not be available during the day because all sensors must be in the dark to trigger the option's availability.

I hope this helps!

Please let us know if this allowed you to change it...
It's not set all the way up high. I even dimmed it and tried without luck. I covered the light sensor still it's no different for the gps maps.

I found the setting. It’s described in the navigation manual.

On the remote touch, click MENU.

On the top right of the screen, click DISPLAY.

Then de-select DAY MODE to set it into auto mode.

Hopefully that does the trick for you.

I think you still had the instrument panel lighting adjustment on your mind. Going into DISP is on the steering wheel, not the instrument panel brightness control on the dash.

Thanks for helping. I was in that menu and didn't find a Day Mode. I wonder if the GPS version is the reason or 2016 models doesn't have that.

websurfer - Did you ever try using the DISP on your steering wheel as I suggested in the 4th post?

I don't see a DISP button but I went thru all the buttons more than once. I just don't see a day mode option. Totally weird.

websurfer - Go to your NAV's Display screen again, but make sure that your headlights are turned ON before doing so. I believe the 'Day Mode' is only shown (accessible) on the Display screen when the headlights are turned On. In other words, you must have the headlights turned On for the Day Mode icon to show on the screen. Then, and only then, will you be able to set it so that it changes at night when the ambient light is low.

[Edit Add] - Your car may also have to be in a dark environment (along with the headlights being On) so all the various light sensors will be detecting low light level in order for the 'Day Mode' (as talked about above) to be shown (accessible) on the Display screen.

The 16+ models don’t have a DISP button on the steering wheel.

Thank you, that's was it. I would not see the Day Mode if the headlights were off. Once I turned it on, I saw the Day Mode enabled, I turned it off and everything is good now.

Thank you everyone, excellent help.

Excellent!!!

How to change the NAV's Day Mode back to default where it will darken in low light level should be covered in the Owners manual and the Navigation manual, but it's not...
