Default Rebuilt engine by Lexus at 60k?

Should I even bother looking at this car used or run away? No miss-fire or engine issues after 30k miles.

Certified pre-owned with warranty expiring in December 2020.

All services done at Lexus manufacturer interval after rebuild. Engine Oil, engine coolant, brake fluid, transmission, and differential fluid changed.

I'm concerned that the engine will start to go again and need another rebuild? There aren't any Lexus maintaince records prior to the 25k mile service.

Here's the VIN: JTHBE1BL5D5010697

Without knowing the mileage, year, trim, dealership selling the car or cost of the car...I'd say that unless its 5-7 thousand $ lower than a comparable GS, stay away,

Why bother buying a salvage vehicle that the insurance company totaled? You would be opening up a can of worms.

My apologies I missed that - so this is the car you're considering: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0867/overview/

Personally would stay away from any car that had a previously rebuilt engine. Lexus CPO warranties are typically non-transferable so that won't apply and its odd that it would have been certified with a rebuilt engine. A few GS's you might consider with the Luxury Package:

Too bad 2 of the cars have been involved in accidents.

The good news is based on the Lexus site all the maintenance was done as scheduled from 25,000 miles and up. Nothing showing up to 25,000 miles which is weird because it is under warranty. Maybe a second owner at 25,000 miles that took it to Lexus??? Yes the engine was rebuilt at 59,000 miles in May 2017. Highly unusual. In December of 2018 the left front strut was replaced and July 2019 the right rear shock was replaced. IMO to many red flags would not touch it.

Listed for sale at $17,800 and they dropped the price from $19,000.

Here is the google cache when it was $19,000:
