Broken head unit already!
Well my radio just crapped out today.
My CD player is busted and won't read any discs, it just makes a loud scratchy spinning noise and shows a blank screen. Everything else is working though, just the CD player and I did not change my battery. It was playing fine this morning and I changed a CD and it just went out but my dealer is ordering a new one and replacing it for free under warranty.

$9K YIKES!!!
Any ideas why this thing crapped out in just 8 months? Can this be fixed without replacing?

Jeesh isn't your car fairly new, that's pretty sad to see. I'm guessing its why they say they make more money in parts and service because the prices are outrageous. I'm 31 and haven't used my CD player at all but I will say flac cd quality is probably the only time I've used the CD player.

Holy crap, that's 9K USD too, I can't imagine what my dealer would charge, by the time they add their tax it'll exceed 2/3rds of it's value and total the car. I don't think I'd even be able to part it out!
Electronic failures follow the bell curve, you've had one die early so the next one should last a lifetime!
Short of an Ipod with ALAC files it's also the only way to get quality audio into the system.

LOL...8 tracks! I had a John Denver 8 track as a kid that I listened to over and over and over...along with my Glen Campbell (Rhinestone Cowboy!) 45... Now I'm showing my age.
I don't think I've ever put a CD in my GS. Perhaps I should give it a try to make sure it works!

I'm not that old...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do keep a collection of retro techs including my old Sony CD Walkman from my high school years. That thing is Car Ready and has a cassette adapter and a remote!

I still prefer the CD sound but I do find myself using BT a lot for convenience. It's good to know if my head unit breaks, I will just need to buy a new car.. LOL
