Maintenance requires message and wrench sign difference?
Hi,
I purchased 2017 gs 350 f sport about 2 month ago and I see this “Maintenance Required. Visit dealer” message on the left side of dash but when I check the wrench symbol it still has mileages left and maintenance screen doesn’t have any info about it. I thought they were all linked together telling me when and what needs to be done but I guess not? I couldn’t get the clear information from the manual. Can someone explain the difference between the maintenance message, wrench symbol and maintenance screen, please? And which one should I follow for actual maintenance need?
Thank you

The wrench in the dash has no connection to the maintenance reminder in the navigation system. From your picture, it doesn't look like you have any maintenance reminders set in your nav.
The wrench in the dash comes on every 5k miles for either oil change or tire rotation or other scheduled maintenance. It's annoying I have to reset 2 things when I do an oil change. There is a youtube video on how to reset the wrench.
I do oil change and tire rotation myself every 10k miles and just skip/reset the wrench every other 5k interval.
Since you just bought the car and have no idea when they last did the maintenance, I would just do an oil change, change the cabin air filter, wiper blades, and change the engine air filter, then set the reminders in the nav and reset the wrench. Also I would inspect the brake pads to see how much life is left. That way you know all the basic maintenance is taken care of.

Thanks for the explanation and just for clarifications.
The wrench is for the actual scheduled maintenance that I need to do.
Nav Reminder button works only if I set it up with dates/miles and etc. manually, like personal calendar?
Then why did I get the message that maintenance is required? The wrench still has many miles left.
It was CPO with 9000miles on it when I bought it and now around 12000 so nothing major should be due I assume.
Thanks

The wrench can be reset at any mileage and then signals the driver again just prior to 5,000 miles since it was last reset. In other words, at whatever mileage you reset it you can be assured you will see the wrench display just before 5,000 miles have been driven from when you last reset it. Since you are just now seeing the wrench that means your wrench was reset by someone (previous owner or maintenance technician) about 5k miles ago.
I personally would not use the scheduled maintenance feature because it's just a hassle. (Just remove any owner added information so it will not be triggered.) You don't need to have a reminder for things like wipers, brake pads, coolant, etc. Most people set their planned maintenance around oil changes every 10k miles or their non-staggered tire rotation every 5k miles, so they have that done when their odometer hits either the 5k or 10k increments...then they'll reset the reminder and it will display again just shy of another 5,000 miles.

My wrench counts down from 10k. Not sure if there’s a setting for that.
I don’t pay much attention to the mileage, though. I just do my oil change every 12 months. I’ve had my current GS for almost 11 months (6k miles) so it’ll be coming soon.

Yes you have to set the reminders. I have mine set for the oil and air filters.
Has you car ever had an oil change? That is suppose to be done every 10k miles or 1 year and your car is 12k. If you don't know the answer to that and the dealer doesn't know I would get that done soon.

The wrench comes on every 5k miles, based on when it was last reset, it's pointless and annoying IMO.

I'm not sure when the last oil change was for this car, but since I have CPO complimentary maintenance I will just bring it in I guess

I thought they all counted down from 5,000 miles...and were not changeable.

The wrench could have been reset a thousand times between when the car was new and 7,000 miles, but for sure the last time it was reset was when the odometer was registering about 7,000 miles...or about 5,000 miles ago...

It should be made clear, though, that the wrench countdown that I am referring to is a new feature that was added on the 2016 display. My 15 didn't have it. It would just come up with a maintenance reminder every 5k miles (actually a bit under, if I remember correctly).

I found the carfax report and the last service was done on 1/23/19 for 10k service. So I'll just start now and repeat every 10k or 12 months.
Thank you all.
Thank you all.

Nope. I am at about 6k on the car and the wrench, which started at 10k, is now at 4k.

For each item on the Maintenance screen, I believe you can set separate reminder intervals, tire rotation on non-F Sport is probably 5K, while there's no rotation for F Sports, that might be the reason some get a reminder at 10K vs. 5K. There are also events you can personalize, e.g. you can enter the next date you would like to have a major detailing done if you don't do it yourself, paint correction, sanitizing the interior, or some other personal maintenance wish list you might create.
