Where did you buy the screen from?

Man! Special thanks to Peasodos letting me even know this was possible. Chungvatra, thanks as well. Got it working. Lucky me, it was just a card issue. Popped the new SD card and it fired right up.

It's not junkyard specific, you have to search. It's listed under tv screens. Not sure which year you are trying to upgrade to. I have a 2015 for sale. It's not full screen though. See pictures.

ML or non-ML doesn't matter, literally the only difference is the logo on the face plate, the head units are exactly the same.
I have a 2016 non-nav that I am looking to see if I can replace the smaller 8" screen with the larger 12.3" screen, I don't actually care if the native navigation system works as I will be using screen mirroring or an android OS.

If all head units are the same, should I just be looking to replace the screen instead of my head unit or are there different part numbers for 2016 head units for nav and non-nav options?

Also are the head units vin coded or are you able to just swap as you please? I remember some of the units from my non-Lexud older cars had a PIN you had to enter everytime they were unplugged.

Thanks for any help!

Your head unit might only output the resolution for the 8” screen, so the image may not show correctly on the 12.3” screen. The only way to know for sure what happens is to do it and see what happens.

Ok so with that theory, there are different part #s for various head units?

What about the security, do the head units and screens just drop in or are they VIN coded or otherwise protected?

Yes there are a lot of part number for different head units, non nav would have a different part number.

The head units are not vin coded or have any inherent security, I have installed 2014, 2015, and 2016 head units into my 2013 GS.

Ok great to know about the security, thanks for confirming.

Did you come across any partial or complete list of those part numbers by any chance?

This is a bit confusion to follow. So what you are saying once you did the 2015 head unit upgrade, the 2016+ was just a simple swap of the screen and headunit?

No, he's saying if you have a 2015, it's a simple swap of the 2016 radio + screen, plug and play.
