The other thing I wonder is about the 2016+ Head unit factory updates. Can the Head unit still automatically get the updates when connected to 5g internet with the phone????

Yeah I don't think it updates at all like that. As far as I know only update is though the sd card. Once you get Carplay of Andoid Auto the whole Lexus navigation system is obsolete and not worth updating the maps.

There have been a few thread about the update they got rid of the standalone Enform App Suite. The Enform app is gone and everything is now integrated to the Lexus app suite and updated.
Animations are gone for me too, but it still shows in the dash. I actually prefer this, then I can throw the car into sport mode without the passengers noticing.
Is that the factory backup camera or aftermarket? Try to see if changing setting like turning off guide lines fixes it.
In my 2013 the factory backup camera did not work at all with 2016+ head unit. I eventually installed Carlinkit and replaced the factory backup camera with aftermarket to get it all working again. I lived without a backup camera for several months.
Me too Animations still shows in the dash i was liked how it’s pop up but it’s not a big deal
and the camera it’s factory I didn’t change anything how i can trun of guide lines
Backup cam very helpful and this mod is worth the sacrifice 👍🏼
Just joined the club! Added 2016+ radio and screen to my 2015 GS crafted line. Looks great with maps and videos now! I also lost the ability to see drive modes on the screen but as others said it doesn’t bother me.
It should just be black clips. At least it is on the 2016+ ones. You press them to the side with a flat head screwdriver (or trim tool) and press the others with your fingers and try to wiggle it. Work it until you start seeing progress. If not switch to another set and try there.
So, what would happen if we were to only install the 2016 screen with a 2015 head unit? I ask because I ordered a 2016 screen (I got it for $550) just not the head unit itself (yet). What wouldn’t work?
