Default 10k service 2018 GS350

I am bringing my car in for the 10k service and another member turned me on to Lexus Drivers. At 5k miles the car had the front rotors replaced due to a clicking noise and poor brake shoe contact. It goes on to say the original 2 piece rotors were replaced with 1 piece steel to fix the problem. Any ideas why they would go from the lightweight 2 piece rotor sto the 1 piece steel?

Lexus has been having this issuie with the two piece rotors since 2013, I'm surprised they still use them. In every instance the fix was to switch to a one piece rotor. The difference in weight is negligible and not enough to translate to any performance gain. Its all for looks.

Good info and was worried it was a bigger problem. My 2013 GS350 had no rotor issues nor did it squeal when braking.

Many F-Sport owners don't like, nor do they understand, why their F-Sport OEM 2-piece front 'performance' brake rotors (with separate rotor & hat/hub that bolts together) makes a clicking sound that is often heard at slow speeds or when turning at slow speed. The reason the 2-piece front brake rotors makes a clicking sound at times is because the rotor is designed to mount to the separate hat/hub where it is allowed to purposely float and move slightly so when the rotor heats-up under repeated track braking conditions it can expand on the separate hat/hub. Also, when cornering under maximum handling conditions a one-piece rotor can actually distort or even break away from its hat/hub, whereas a 2-piece rotor will float and is less likely to break under extreme cornering load and is better suited for such 'performance' conditions. Lexus decided that changing the 2-piece front rotors to a one-piece rotor would be best for people that complained about the clicking noise...because those people have no clue why the 2-piece 'performance' brake rotors have a tendency to click in the first place.

It's kinda like someone buying a high-performance car and then they complain the ride is too firm and fidgety, it doesn't get very good gas mileage, it requires high octane gasoline, it takes too many quarts of oil, the brakes wear out quickly and produce lots of brake dust, sometimes the brakes squeal and click, the tires are too expensive and the factory exhaust is too loud. Well duh! What the hell did they expect?

I will let everyone know what the dealer tells me on Saturday. I reported the brake squealing and front end pulling.
