Default Power Trunk Anxiety

When I open or close my trunk, I always let the power assist do 100% of the work. Sometimes, when I am traveling with someone not familiar with my car, I open the trunk for someone, and the power lid starts opening, and the person grabs the trunk lid and applies their own effort to open (or close) the trunk lid, as though it was a manually opened trunk lid with no power assist.

Will this damage or hurt the power opening assist?

No it doesn't damage the power trunk to close it manually. I do it sometimes with my power trunk. I did the power trunk retrofit and that motor/mechanism is heavy and well built. Mine also came from a car that was rear ended and motor is rock solid.

Thanks for the assurance, I cringe if someone else manually closes my power trunk; but for OCD reasons mostly.

Sometimes when I’m impatient and don’t want to wait for it to power open, I’ll hit the trunk release button twice and open it manually. Then power close it as I get in the car.

no idea why they don't have power close buttons for 2013 model work on the remote or in the car...only the button in the trunk itself can close it. I know its safety but has anyone figured out an overide yet?

I know someone in the LS Forum did a mod to close the power trunk from the trunk open switch inside the car.

Thank You...Found it. Now to rollback the years to electronics 101 and try and understand the lingo.

FYI: Turn the cabin Open switch to an Open/Close Switch (from an LS but should/could work)
