Question for the group about purchasing a VSC through Lexus dealership. Dont know a lot about the Lexus brand and wanted to know the thoughts of seasoned Lexus owners. I have a 2015 GS350 with about 67000 miles on it . It is L certified so i have 2 years warranty and 4 service visit free. So any input would be greatly appreciated.

The VSC isn't worth it imo. At 67k miles, the car should have had the door actuators malfunction or will soon. That was the only thing I needed to get done. Since you have 2 years warranty already, you don't need to extend it. The only other thing I can think of is the Lexus battery, but that has a warranty of its own.

The GS is very reliable - depending on the amount of driving you do and the amount they are charging for the additional warranty, it may not be worth it. If you have to pay upwards of $2000 for an additional 3yrs consider saving that money today and using it for future repairs (if needed).

I remember it was expensive to get an extended VSA Platinum warranty on my GS when I purchased it CPO. I believe they will only warranty the car up to 10years from its model year (i believe your 2015 could be warrantied up to 2025 max). Here are the numbers i was originally quoted from my local Lexus dealer for extended warranties beyond the CPO:1yr/12k miles: $1499

2yr/24k: $1699

3yr/36k: $2199

4yr/50k: $2699

5yr/60k: $3299

Platinum, $0 ded.

Personally, with the GS i'd save the cash now and not go beyond the CPO warranty. If we were talking BMW, Jaguar/Land Rover, i'd probably say get the warranty..

Yeah it's a waste of money on a Lexus. My car has 98k miles and 7 years old, zero issues except for changing the sunroof seal(i did myself because of clunk) and one passenger airbag recall. If you have the f-sport and 19+" wheels there is a higher chance of strut failure under 100k from hitting potholes.

The actuator is not a common problem i don't even know if anybody had that issue with the 4GS on this forum.. My car has had zero issues with that. Even if it was sure not worth paying 2k+ for a warranty to cover it. The battery is the battery you replace it every 5 years or so when it dies. The 12v battery in my 450h lasted 7 years, just replaced it a couple months ago.
