Also this weekend I pondered why just not use a grey paint, anything would be better than black spots.
So I tried some grey metal primer that I have:

Gray primer spot

Looks OK from some distance

But then the light shifts and it is poop...

The piece of film after heating with an iron.
Don't mind the bubbles, this was just to see the color tone - which is not good enough but still better than most attempts so far.

I think I would just quit screwing around with them and have them professionally refinished.

Yeah he seems to be going downhill with the repair attempts.

I live in a old kingdom far far away, so I do not have access to such technology (super-thin chrome deposition).
The option is to have an autoshop paint them with regular rim paint which is the last option.
And I have until May to find a solution, since I am currently using the winter wheels.

I think you wasted your money. Using film to cover those damaged spots on your wheels will never work - even if the color match is perfect, which is doubtful it will be.

I can't imagine a paste on film ever holding up on a wheel.

I doubt that will match at all, end up like the last vinyl repair attempt, not to mention all the dirt that will eventually build on the edge of the vinyl that will highlight your fix later on, probably worst than the original damage.

With all the money you blew of trying to fix this you could have bought a good used rim, swapped it, and sold the original.

Or take the rim to a professional wheel repair shop or pro paint shop and get it fixed/touched up there.

Your first repair was the best attempt, should have stopped after that.

I think the OP's wheel finish is called Super Chrome.

All the refurb rim sites I looked at call it hyper silver, they are probably just painting/powerder coating the rims not chrome plating it.
