I tested the polarity without the connector. White on the car side is ground, black on the car side is 12V. That was a surprise. Note cable tie used to avoid short circuit

Another benefit of pulling back the liner was access to strap the cable down well. Dont want to have any rattle in the Lexus...
For the complete OCD satisfaction, the connector is oriented down, just as for the standard light, so that the gasket is protected from standing water.

Maybe it is a hybrid thing

For reference, the before and after photos from last weekend. The difference in appearance, both when turned on and turned off is so noticeable that this mod should be mandatory.

Nice writeup and thanks for sharing the photos.
I followed @GregCanada's DIY writeup on this when I performed this mod soon after I got my vehicle: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...og-lights.html
Highly recommended. It made the whole process painless, hence I gave him a shout out in my forum signature!
I, too, have the hybrid and didn't remove the entire wheel. I also only unscrewed only one screw per fog light to remove as peasodos pointed out. I didn't have to re-wire anything - it was all plug & play. Perhaps it is because you have a European car.
All the best,

Hi all. Thanks for the comments. Please note that for my drivers side, I _did_ try the simple remove the screw and replace the foglight only - leave the frame in place.
But I could not get the screw to enter properly and it looked strange outside in the frame. That is when I decided to pull the whole plastic frame out, because I remembered
something about mods from this link that Morimoto promotes on their webpace for the case of Toyota Camry

I think I did see GregCanadas writeup at some point so I tried turning the wheel to remove some bolt(s), but I quickly gave up (I see now that he recommend turning it out, not in..) and since I live in Norway jacking up and removing a wheel is just as natural as eating breakfast, we do that twice a year and all have winter and summer tiers on separate rims...

I received my fog lights last night off of Amazon. A little disappointed they only came in bubble wrap, I was expecting them to be better protected in a foam carton. Can anyone comment on the packaging these should ship in? I am ready to return if not brand new. Thanks

Interesting. I thought for sure I saw pictures of the fog lights being in foam protection. When I opened them last night, there were some specks of dust on the lens. I was able to wipe off, but I was disappointed as I thought at first they were inside the lens or worse a slight scratch on the inside/outside. It just seems odd that these are being shipped and tossed around, and they are basically in bubble wrap with no other protection in the box. Maybe I was expecting an "Apple product" box opening, where everything seems so logically placed and packed within the box.
