Which gives an indication as to what their markup is. You do the math, online merchants sell the entire thing for $7K and they'd be making money. Say they're charging 1K for labour, that would mean they're making at least 7K in pure gross profit!

Car is done. Will pick it up tomorrow and let you all know what the records say.
If it wasn't for the warranty, I would have taken it to an independent Lexus/Toyota specialist shop.

We'll never know but, I think an independent Lexus/Toyota specialist shop could have made the repair with a new shift solenoid replacement for ~$500.
Hopefully it will be just like new.

Picked up my car and it drives like normal again. Although when shifting it into paddle shift mode, it's difficult to do so - will bring back to have them adjust.
The paperwork didn't have a lot of information as far as what the cost would have been without warranty. The only thing worth while was the service tech notes which states the issue:
P0071, P0796, P0985, P2714 stored due to excessive clutch clearance causing valve body to clog with debris. Internal Failure in transmission assy.

Code P0796 is the Pressure Control Solenoid - Most likely this code was thrown because the Shift Solenoid Valve SR failed which threw Code P0985. Code P2714 was also thrown because it detected a problem with the Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid.
► Code P0985 is the Shift Solenoid Valve SR - Faulty valve which was the root cause of the transmission problem
Code P2714 was thrown because the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detected a problem with the Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid
The Shift Solenoid Valve SR is #1 in the image below with the green plug. Part # is: 35240-50090 Cost: ~$200 Labor to replace: ~1.5 hours maximum

Do you have any idea whether the dealer replaced your transmission with another transmission or repaired (replaced the defective part) in your OE transmission?

HERE is a 4th Gen LS owner that replaced the Shift Solenoid Valve SR part in his 2007 LS 460L with 193k miles.
