Default frameless mirror

Has anyone tried to fit a newer frameless mirror to the GS? I have searched this forum up and down. I’ve found some RX frameless mirrors that I’m hoping are plug and play?

Pics? Never even heard of a frameless mirror.

That looks like the one on the RC. The GS and ES version of frameless looks like that but with a thin black plastic borders around it.

Does it still have the Homelink stuff and auto-dimming? Looks nice.

Yes, the buttons are along the bottom edge.

The 4GS mirror is a generic part: my 2015 QX60 has the same one.

I think all it needs is power.

See below picture I marked in red, does it auto dim between this border? Isn't that noticeable? Looks more like a semi transparent border on the mirror part itself.

I haven't noticed that as an issue on mine.

So that part doesn't dim and it's not a issue for you?

On mine, that gap is smaller. I have to look closely at it to see it. I've never had any lights reflect back in that area in a noticeable way. So it's definitely not an issue for me.

I guess I'm the opposite, I'd rather have the slightly thicker black border and not have this other border on the mirror part itself.

I'm pretty impartial. I think the new one has a nicer look to it, but the old one was fine too.

Question, the back window is tinted normally right? Not sure if they come like that or not.

The reason I ask, is the dimmer does nothing in my car. I toggle it on and off and see no difference. I've convinced myself the tint makes the lights dim enough that the mirror doesn't need to do anything.

My ES that wasn't tinted I could absolutely tell. Couldn't live without the auto dimmer. Now, sometimes I turn it off for days and can't tell... It *appears* to work (lights and stuff come on) but I really don't know.
