Code retrieval

At a recent dealer visit, the Service Manager pushed a couple buttons and the stored codes were displayed in the dash screen. I believer they were body codes as opposed to OBD codes. Anyone know what buttons and in what order? I'm not having any problems but thought it might be useful to know how to do that.
