GS Leather...is it real?
I've owned my 2015 GS350 F-Sport for just over a year and have really enjoyed my ownership experience for the most part. However, I recently did my annual leather cleaning and conditioning and noticed in many areas specifically throughout seating has me thinking allot of this is not all 100% leather despite brochure claiming it. Coming from several BMW's cars and their leather varieties (Nappa, Dakota, Merino etc..) I noticed Lexus leather didn't have that same luxurious feel and has a cheaper look and touch and not quite 'leathery' if that is a word. For the exception of their Luxury Semi-aniline version which my wife's 2017 RX350 has and not comparing here it for this purpose but at least on that leather type I can feel its texture, natural touch, feel and smell. But on the GS doesn't seem all 100% leather throughout.
For example the thigh, bolster sections do feel like real leather but areas like the back portion of the seats, the entire perforation areas, headrests and back sections feel fake and more like that cheap vinyl feeling NuLuxe they use on their doors and dash etc.. Is Lexus leather like those advertised sofas/couches they make nowadays where only the main seat and touch points are real leather but the sides and backsides fake leather? Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks

The portions of the seat you sit on are genuine leather but the seatbacks are not.

The F Sport steering wheel and shift know are leather as well.

It's a shame, I figured it wasn't all 100% genuine leather. I am disappointed considering there is no mention of that in the official Lexus brochure (see below) and this is a Luxury Sports sedan if you advertise leather then it should be leather.

Did they recently do the mix and match on the 2016-2020 or has it been like this since 2013-2015? Cause I thought my 2014 with Cabernet interior had leather all around?
On my 2019 with Rioja interior I can feel that some parts don't feel like real leather.

The brochure and other documentation refer to it as a "leather-trimmed" interior so it's not that big of a deal to me. If it stated something like "full leather interior" or something to that effect I could see how some would be disappointed.

I can't speak to the 13 and 14, but my 15 and my 19 are the same. I suspect it's always been this way.

The vinyl Lexus uses on some surfaces is actually better than letter in a lot of ways. It holds up better, is more cleanable, and doesn't trap odors. I can see how many people see vinyl as kind of cheesy but it is really practical and probably not worth worrying about.

Didn't you get GS Luxury seats? How do those compare to the LS/LC? It's advertised as "semi-analine" which I'm not familiar with.

Yes I have the lux seats, much better than the base GS seats. The LS or the LC are just on another level of comfort, also the design and stitching is more appealing. I think those cars have more padding or softer padding for the butt, also I think the leather is even softer than the semi-aneline leather used in the lux GS seats.
