To me, it's not the color of the wheels, though the color certainly doesn't help. It's the overall fitment/stance of the wheels. They stick out too far and it just looks terrible.

That is certainly an improvement. But...
FOr sure, easier to tell with the black above, but yea, tires still are odd. ANd not a fan of the rims at all, though that is personal preference I guess.

Agreed. I was never a fan of those style wheels. Even when they were the "in thing", I never liked them.
