To be clear, I didn’t have any issues using it on my 15 without the side enter buttons. Wasn’t sure if I’d use them on my 19, but now I’ve gotten used to them and use them more often than just pushing down on the mouse.
Makes sense. I'll still on the lookout for an affordable one. I'm sure the same thing would happen, I'd get use to the enter button, probably more intuitive.

It’s nice to have, but I wouldn’t make it a priority or spend a bunch on it.
i just paid off my 15 gs, do you guys know if its possible to retrofit that 2016+ stuff to the 2015 ? lol
You can and if you have a 2015 it's plug and play. Just need the 12.3" display and radio/head unit from a 2016+ GS.
2015 has the same plugs, for my 2013 it required some workarounds to get the correct plugs to fit, but good luck finding the parts for a affordable price.
Maybe I'm just so use to my 2013, I have no issues navigating and entering my 2016 head unit with the mouse and pressing it to enter. I know people complain about the mouse thing, but I don't have any problems with it, I happen to find it easy to use. It's like learning anything and once you get use to it you also get good at it. lol I feel like if I got the updated nav controller I'll find myself pressing the mouse and the enter button at the same time causing other problems. I guess I wouldn't know for sure until I have one.
I think for my setup with the carlinkit carplay/android auto the back button would be more useful.
Who uses the enter button on the passenger side, the passenger?
I also had no problems with my 14, but the 16 is definitely a lot easier to navigate comparatively. And with the GROM, where the mouse cursor is a lot more important, the Back button and side buttons are crucial, and make navigation 100x easier — especially for hold and drag events (page scrolling in a browser for example). So while it’s not necessary, it’s definitely an upgrade.
