My insurance right now is a blackvue front and rear dash cam with a backup battery for continuous recording.
If anything like that happened again I would have the video evidence.

Honestly nowadays I can't imagine driving without a front and rear dash cam. That is the proof you need if anything happens, otherwise it's he said she said.

All I'm saying is he should find out the cost from a bodyshop to repair it and weight that with using insurance considering he has a $1k deductible. if it's the front fender, and two doors your talking about $2k in repair and paint, and likely paint will not match unless you blend and paint half the car which just opens up another can of worms.

If it's more than that one door then by all means use your insurance, but it doesn't hurt to shop around and find out the repair cost before going through insurance.

Wrong friend. I would never do what peasodos and eddie420 do with the interior. Give me the mechanical stuff...

Don't mess with me peasodos!

FYI - Here I am in action!

The bear got the best of me because I was focused on his fancy footwork, but I won't let that happen again!

My guess (which is in fact a guess) is that it's going to be a lot more than $2k. The back door looks like there is a gouge mark. There appears to be impact damage on the skirt. The need to repaint both doors, skirt, plus blending is likely needed. This is not a cheap job.

Also agree with going through insurance. Its not your fault, therefore your rates shouldn't rise. This is why we pay a lot of $$$ for insurance.

FWIW, I have never had an insurance claim show up on my carfax. If you’re worried about that, try and get reimbursed for diminished value. It’s a hit and run which falls under uninsured motorist coverage.

Oh and I have over 1,000 likes, so suck on that guys LOL

Does the verbiage matter here? It'll be an accident on Carfax that anyone can see and we all know that we suggest a potential buyer be on the lookout for accidents.

SW17LS - Yeah Steve, but you've been here since 2012!

I think your twins celebrated their 5th birthday on February 16th if I recall correctly. Time flies! Hope they're doing well...

True story... I called my insurance to ask if the mechanic who drove a bolt into my engine block was covered. Of course it wasn't, but it showed up as an accident on my carfax report.
