Default Car hit in parking lot this weekend :(

So this weekend my car was hit in a parking lot on the driver's side. The parking lot had no cameras so I was unable to get any information about who hit it.

The driver door is pretty damaged (only cosmetic) and the side-view mirror housing is cracked.

I considered making an insurance claim (still a possibility) but my deductible is $1000 and my rates would probably go up quite a bit.

I've looked online at OEMvehicleparts.com and believe I found the parts I need. They are listed below:https://www.oemvehicleparts.com/oem-...Y2LWdhcw%3D%3D

https://www.oemvehicleparts.com/oem-...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

I'm mostly curious if the "door shell" is the correct part.

I have a 2014 GS350, non f sport.

I can provide pictures later if necessary, and thanks in advance.

You're going to be better off having your insurance take care of the repairs. That's why you have insurance! You've probably saved far more than $1,000 with your high deductible, so that shouldn't be a deciding factor...unless you can't come up with a measly thousand bucks...

Show us a picture of the dent, if the metal is not creased and paint is not badly damaged a PDR place can take out the dent.

Why would you buy an unpainted door shell? It's much easier for the body shop to pull a dent, bodywork, and repaint.

The side view mirror housing (8791A-30D10) can be purchased painted from the dealer for a pretty low price. Here's a Lexus dealer selling them on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-PASSE...7/332869979169

That is the correct part if you're looking to replace just the damaged door - but keep it mind it will NOT come painted for that price. I imagine that you would be buying this yourself but going to a local body shop to do the actual replacement?

Also: Pics would be helpful as well - if the damage is mainly cosmetic, why not just get a quote from a good local shop to fix the existing door? It will likely be cheaper than buying a whole new door...

Seeing a pic would be helpful. I would first get 2-3 quotes from reliable and highly related collision shops. This can determine if the door HAS to be replaced, or if it can be fixed. In addition, I would also check out some other sources such as car-part.com. Junkyards near you might have a used door where you can negotiate the price.

If the paint is undamaged(or minor scratches that can be buffed out) and only a dent, it can be taken out with PDR, avoid repainting if you can because it will not match 100% with the factory paint.

Yeah some pictures would help and if the total repair cost is below $1000, then obviously pay out of pocket and don't go through insurance. If its just the outside shell damage and the mirror you'll probably come in at under $1000 to repair it. I have several times paid slightly higher than my deductible ($1100) than to go through insurance and have that claim on my record which would affect my rates for a minimum of 5 years.

If u have uninsured motorist coverage like we do here in Cali then u would pay zero out of pocket and the deductible is fully refundable and ur insurance won't go up. Any damage on a Lexus can go over $1000 easy.

Fix it, get rid of it and get another GS cause it will never be the same.

Here’s 2 pictures that kind of detail the damage. The door is pretty smashed in and has paint chips, so popping the dent out wouldn’t fully fix the problem.

I’m in Louisiana and have uninsured motorists coverage, but I’m pretty certain that has to have another vehicle involved to make a claim (not positive though). I have comprehensive coverage, but that’s primarily for stuff like hail damage. Since another vehicle was involved I’m sure they would rule it as a “not at fault collision”.

Yeah that's beyond PDR work, that's going to need bodywork and repaint unless you can source a good condition used door. Bodyshop might just end up replacing the door all together new or used.

Other than the dent how are the gaps around the door? If that's off they will replace the door not mess with fixing the existing door. Is the front fender or rear door affected?

Wow, that really sucks. No doubt the person who hit your car knew what they had done. Are there any parking lot cameras?

It can be fixed but a used door might be better, because most body shop would not want to fix that damage. https://imageappky.car-part.com/imag...3%2000170222#1 that way you dont have pay a shop to respray the door or get the new door.A good shop may charge you $350 to $400 for the work to respray the new door. Keep in mind Toyota water base paint is a bit pricey.
