Default MOD: LS Window Switches in a 2013 Lexus GS

So I got all the door window switches from an LS500 for $108. The price was too good to pass up. I plan on selling the original switches to recoupe all that, probably make some money on this swap.

On the Left is the 2013 Lexus GS window switch, solid piece of plastic.
2nd from the left is the 2016 Lexus GS window switch with plastic chrome tip.
3rd from the left is the 2018 Lexus LS500 window switch with metal tip
All the way on the right is a 2016 window switch with the plastic chrome tip removed. The tips are interchangeable.

Left is LS window switch, Right is 2016+ GS window switch

I took apart the window switches, the buttons underneath on the boards are different. The LS switches are quieter when pressed and have a more solid feedback compared to the GS switches.
Here is a pic of the gs switch apart:

swapped the window switches

With these cars, I am finding that Lexus did a pretty good job in the styling department as they really don't need much. Just a few personal touches to make it yours.

Wow! What will this guy not do. Cool Peasodos. When are you going to go for the gusto, and get a 600h drivetrain put into your GS. That is all that is left.....

ok so the LS master switch does not work in the GS, so I had to swap all the buttons over.

I took apart and compared the button mechanisms and this is why the LS buttons are a quieter than the GS buttons.

The LS board has a button on the board itself, that makes a soft rubber press.
The GS board is flat and a piece of rubber slaps the board making the clicking noise.

Why Lexus ? To save $5 ?? Wouldn't you save more money just by using the same parts? @peasodos

Thanks for being the official CL MAD scientist!!! @peasodos

Swapped the parts over, for the driver master switch I had to swap all the buttons over individually since the LS master switch does not work on the GS.

Literally it would cost them a few pennies, if that. There are some things like buttons Lexus will only do for the flagship LS, they will probably never do on lower models.
Part of the luxury of the LS is all the buttons have a nice solid quiet feel to it. All the other lower models and Toyota's have the slappy/louder click.

I guess some minor refinements are reserved only for the flagship.

You are really something else (mean this in a good way). Every time you do something to your car I just think to myself how does this guy come up with these random ideas. Then i think to myself maybe I should do the same but unfortunately remember I am not gifted like that . Long story short keep up the good work its amazing to see some of the things you do to your car.

Here is the aluminum I've added to the interior of my car:
Aluminum interior door handles from 2016+ GS
Aluminum ringed start button from LS 600h
Aluminium tipped windows switches from LS 500
Aluminum or Magnesium paddle shifters from RC F
Aluminum gas, brake, and dead pedal from GS F

Next thing I might attempt is getting the drive mode change **** from an LS. It's also aluminum. I think it's the same size as the GS, it will be tricky to take apart but I think it can be done.

How easy is it to change the dead pedal? I thought the whole carpet needs to be replaced.

I have mine velcroed to the floor, over the plastic deal pedal. Otherwise there is a backing plate and it screws/bolts through the carpet. You'd have to be crazy to pay for another full carpet and swap it out.

Pics from when I took mine apart. I'm not entirely sure how the **** is actually attached. I have the parts stored in a box in my garage if you want me to tinker around with it.
