Default Sound button?

Anyone know what is this sound button for?

The English GS manual doesn’t seem to have this icon

Thanks

It’s a Japanese import. All original. Can’t figure out what it does.

I've always wondered what the mystery missing 6th button was! Does it mute parking sensors?

Maybe a white noise generator or noise-canceling feature. I know the Toyota Crown has some sort of wave canceling feature that disrupts road noise from entering the cabin.

I bet it is to turn audio level compensation on and off. My car a'15 US model can raise or lower the volume based on cabin noise, but it is only controlled in the ML stereo menu.

What model is this? If it's a hybrid GS, could it be some sort of exterior sound generator that's required for pedestrian safety so they can hear the car when it's running in electric mode?

Best guess is maybe ASL or Surround sound toggle? Odd that a possible audio related physical button would be located in that spot....

I would LOVE to have a button controlling that. Classical and jazz sound better with surround off but sometimes I switch it on to give Gojira that extra punch.

yes it’s a hybrid. I think you’re right. I might need to have someone outside a listen when the car is in reverse.

The mysterious dash button with the music note ( ) is found on the Toyota Aqua (Prius c) in Japan. The purpose of the switch with the musical note is for a pedestrian alert sound. This is similar to the Vehicle Proximity Notification System (VPNS) on the US market Prius. When the switch is turned On, a sound is emitted when the vehicle is driven below 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and the gasoline engine is Off - this is to make pedestrians aware that there is a vehicle nearby, otherwise the vehicle would be totally quiet and unnoticeable which may cause pedestrians step out in front of the vehicle. And, now you know all about the mysterious 'Sound Button'!

► The Toyota Prius c (c stands for "city"), named the Toyota Aqua ("aqua" is Latin for water) in Japan, is a full hybrid gasoline-electric subcompact/supermini hatchback manufactured and marketed by Toyota Motor Corporation.

Thanks bc.

I wish I could turn off the ear piercing noise my Highlander makes in reverse with the gasoline engine off. I swear, I pop it in reverse and stunned birds fall out of trees. Okay, not really, but it's awful...
