Dang, I have to drive mine to Vegas one of these days when things are back to normal again to see if I can get at least 25 mpg. Been getting around 21 lately with 50/50 city and highway driving

I believe it.

Last year I got 31.7mpg highway on a vacation trip and that was avg 70mph, AC on most of the time, and a car loaded with luggage, year before I got 30.3mpg on the same trip, same basic conditions. These cars can very good highway fuel economy, city driving, that is a totally different story. My GS430 with a 5 speed auto V8 got 27-29mpg on the same trip. My dad in his TLX Sh awd with a extra passenger loaded with luggage got 37mpg at one time, and avg 35mpg on the same trip, his car gets much better city mpg then mine.

I really see no need for small turbo 4's and expensive hybrids when you get this kind of mileage highway out of largish 300hp sedans, city could be better but I'll take the larger engines and their more trouble free smoother character.

That's awesome. My personal record so far on my RWD is 31.4 highway. These vehicles are capable of over the rating fuel efficiency. I've heard mix reviews regarding mpg since I first join with my previous IS (which is the same engine)

My best was 31.1 mpg while driving between Germantown, MD and Pittsburgh, PA at highway speeds. I am pretty sure if I drive down to South where the elevation does not change too much I will be able to go over 31 mpg, but I dont drive my Lexus on longer than 4 hour trips. Yes, I am one of those people.

+1 - the only difference being we don't have to baby the throttle. The hybrid can get it driving across a wide range of speeds. I've driven the car with a full of load at 80+ mph and gotten 34 mpg over long, flat stretches.

^And that's what the dash said too (the OP mentioned his dash read 30.8, so the 33 mpg was his own calculation).Very impressive for the GS350 nonetheless.

Thanks for sharing,

My car full of load at 80+ MPH will get 14 MPG.

That sounds possible and want to test it but driving under 55mph is so hard in the GS. Feels like you're going 35mph. I have managed 26-27mpg with highway speeds between 70-80mph and few rippers here and there on my RWD. Doesn't the Eco mode also engage the atkinsons cycle to help save gas?

I used the exact same station and pump to fill the tank. That works out to 33.1 MPG which is astonishingly good! There was a small amount of rain, sparse winds, and 60° F weather. No AC use at all. Less than 100 lbs cargo and I weigh 150. I stopped a total of 4 times along the way, averaging 30 minutes per break. I was even stuck in traffic going 5 mph for an hour and 20 minutes. I would have never guessed this car was capable of getting such awesome gas mileage, granted, the conditions were pretty favorable (except for the traffic). Normally I only get 20 or so MPG in a mix of city and highway driving. That just goes to show how great these cars are on the open road!

I never came remotely close to that, but I just can't drive 55

I can only dream of going past 20 mpg lol. I mainly drive city miles, but I can't wait to drive it on the open road once everything's over.

Last week I got 30.5 mpg while driving 1500 miles in New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. The best mileage was 33.9 mpg, on the last leg of the trip from Gunnison to Albuquerque. The speeds were generally 60 mph to 85 mph.

I bought the GS in 2020 just before Covid, so this was its first road trip. I'm impressed and pleased by the fuel efficiency.

My right foot doesn't play well with MPG so I'm still getting 14 MPG, 17 at best.

UGH!
Just did a 350 mile round trip on Sunday from West Palm to Orlando. My newly licensed son drove up and averaged 31.9 mpg with the cruise set at 75-80 for almost the entire leg. I drove on the way back, at higher speeds, averaged 25.7 mpg.
Just filled up today... 396.6 miles, 15.98 gallons, that's 24.8 mpg... the trip computer showed 26.5... go figure.

Did you go over that one little bump in the ground they call a hill down there? Maybe next time go around it and you'll get 33 <JK>

There's a direct correlation between that right foot and the size of ones smile while driving a GS.
