Default Used GS350 - 25k miles no documented oil changes

Found a used GS350 I’m interested in. It is a 2017, has 25k miles on it, looks to be in good shape, clean carfax. There is very little info on the car on the Lexus drivers site. Just a couple dealership visits around 6k miles, so no red flags as far as damage/accidents. Only thing that worries me so far is there is no evidence of oil changes on Carfax or on the Lexus drivers site. Though not many people are stupid enough to drive 25k miles without changing the oil, I know there’s some out there. Anyone have any other ideas on how I can ascertain whether the oil was changed throughout the 25k miles? Even if it was changed once about midway through the 25k miles, I’d feel pretty okay about the car since normal interval is 10k, but right now I have no idea.

Are you buying it through a dealer or private sale?

Should have mentioned that, it’s a dealer. Not a Lexus dealer, it’s a Toyota dealer I believe.

You can check some of the vehicle maintenance in the car itself. Just see if they will let you start the car then go to setup - vehicle - maintenance.

Can you check all of the “historical” oil changes on the car somehow? I thought you could only see mileage since the last oil change, in which case the dealer has probably reset it already. Sorry, I can’t remember what the options were on my old GS.

Being that the first oil change is free, it certainly has had at least one oil change. But even if it has not had an oil change ever, that is not a lot of miles with out an oil change.

No, unfortunately it will not show you the complete history but with only 25k miles on it, it should give you an idea when it's due for another oil change.

Does the Lexus owners site show owner submitted service history? I thought I read somewhere that it does not if a second party views it.

I'm not sure if it does. I do not see any owner-submitted service records on the car. Honestly, I doubt many people take the time to enter service records from non-Lexus dealer service. I know I didn't with my last GS. I just kept all the receipts in a folder in chronological order.

The previous owner could have just performed the maintenance himself/herself.

How is the condition of the rest of the car? If the rest of the car is in great shape, I will assume (with some risk) that they otherwise took care of it. Seems like there's a correlation between used cars that are dinged up and those which are not regularly serviced.

It's easy to spend other people's money, but I wouldn't be that concerned about it if it were me.

I haven’t seen it in person yet. The dealer isn’t that close. It looks like it’s in good shape in the pictures, though. I agree that the overall condition of a vehicle usually shows how it was treated. And the owner easily could have changed their own oil or taken it to an independent that doesn’t report to carfax. Just trying to do my homework before I possibly make a trip to see it.

I change my own oil and document every task I perform on the owners website. I also save all receipts and documents. Hell, I even laminated my window sticker.

I do my own oil changes when the car reminds me, but I don’t log it anywhere. 10k miles or 1 year. Sometimes I go over 1-2k miles but I use mobile one Extended performance and oem filter so I’m not concerned. Most likely the previous owner did the oil changes themselves or used an independent mechanic that doesn’t report to carfax.

i would not be concerned if the car is in good shape and drives fine. Just do an oil change right away so you know when to do it the next time.

I wouldn't worry about the no documented oil changes with modern synthetic oil and only 25K miles, doubt there could be any damage to the engine using the same oil if they even did it. Just change the oil when you get it. Owner likely just changed their own oil, took it to a place that does not document it or maybe someone forgot to enter it in the database.
