This is my first post and I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Steve and I picked up a '13 Riviera Red AWD F Sport with black interior a couple of days ago and I'm looking forward to learning about and modifying this car. Checking the service history via the VIN number on the Lexus Drivers website shows that this car has been maintained solely by Lexus dealers every 5K miles; it seems to be in fantastic shape in all aspects. The car has 77K miles on it right now and I would like to perform preventative maintenance before any mods. What are some things I should look for outside of regular maintenance? Any common failures on these cars?
Not too many common issues. I've experienced with my AWD...AWD whine, sunroof noise, various interior creaks/rattles sitting at 60k miles on my '13. None of these things are major issues, just some annoyances. The 4GS is solid.
Welcome to the Riviera club!
My favorite mod (which surprisingly cost the least and easiest to install) are the red vinyl overlays for the amber portion of the tail lights. Something so simple really brings dat *** together!
Thank you for linking that thread. Definitely need some inspiration as I don't even know where to start. There's so much to do. Haha. I searched long and hard for this color. Seems as if most F Sport examples are black, white, or gray.

Congrats and welcome! Looks great
Excellent. Glad to hear that I should have worry free miles. I have the AWD whine and sunroof noise. Going to start looking into the sunroof soon. I think it's easily fixed with a new seal. Any explanation for the whine and do you get a slight grinding sensation when in reverse with the steering wheel turned at low speed?
Thanks for the welcome! Glad to have found an excellent resource for this car.

Where did your trunk F sport badge go?
Thanks! Glad to be part of the club. Haha. I have the red turn signal overlay and 35% tint for the reverse light lense on the way! I intend to black out the chrome trim since I'm not such a big fan of chrome, but I understand that Lexus has to tend to the masses.
As for the F Sport badge, I believe they are absent from the trunks of '13-'14 year models and were added in 2015.

I had the whine addressed by the dealership under the powertrain warranty (which may be expired in your case): https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...96083-5448.pdf It still has a bit of a whine even after the fix so i've learned to live with it.

Definitely expired at this point so I'll just live with it as it doesn't bother me all that much.
Thank you for linking that sunroof rubber seal replacement thread. I'll put it to good use.
It's not so much of a grinding noise, but more of a sensation felt through the steering wheel. I hear it's common in AWD vehicles and this is my first AWD car, so I'll take it as normal. It only happens during low speed reversing with the wheel turned. It probably has something to do with the differential. Car drives smoothly and quietly (aside from the whine) otherwise.
Beautiful color! Red GS' are hard to come by -- not a lot of people like the color but I certainly do! I wish we see more of these!
Thank you! It's funny you mentioned that because I was a little put off by the red at first. It has certainly grown on me and it was a deal I couldn't pass up on. It was very well cared for by the previous owner. I love it more every day.
