Default Spark plugs for 2013 GS350 AWD

Long time lurker, first time poster I had purchased spark plugs from Ebay OEM Toyota/Lexus Genuine part # 90919-01249 FK20HBR11. The original spark plugs in the car had double iridium pin to pin and the new ones did not. I've tried searching online if there's a big difference between the two but could not find too many discussions on it. My gas mileage is 21/23mpg all highway and was due for spark plug replacements at 118k miles so I was hoping the spark plug change would help.

Forgot to mention the gap on the new ones and originals are not .044 but , are they supposed to be pre-gapped from the factory? Originals are between .035 and .040, new ones at .025.

Left original, right new

Thoughts? Going to hold off on changing them out.

Someone else made a post comparing the eBay plugs to ones from a Lexus dealer. They found several differences. The eBay plugs are knockoffs with Lexus branding/packaging. Do yourself a favor and order genuine plugs from any Lexus/Toyota dealer.

I was afraid of that, lesson learned. Thank you for the quick response, peasodos!

Would you happen to know when I pick up the OEM from the Lexus dealership, should I gap them to the recommended .044? The original ones in my car are gapped between .035 and .040, could be contributing to my bad gas mileage (all highway), even babying the gas pedal. I did a 19 hour trip from South Florida to Cleveland, Ohio after each fill up i averaged 22.4mpg.

From the dealer, they should be gapped appropriately. Maybe those aren't the originals for a 2013? As you can see the 2018 has a smaller gap than the 2013. You can also check out Walmart or local auto parts stores like Advance Auto and AutoZone... might save a few bucks.

2nd owner, signed up for the the Lexus Drivers portal, looks like the spark plug change was done at 68k at a Lexus dealership. Odd they didn't gap them properly.

Would not putting OEM be okay? I found these https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...473/10477937-P Denso replacement at AAP. Doesn't say which gap it has.

Most plugs now come re-gapped' to the manufacturer's specs, so there's no need for adjustments. I'm thinking that when the dealership did the plug change at 68K, maybe they used plugs for the 2016+ GS model and not the correct plugs for the 2013-2015 models. OEM plugs are the same plugs you can get at AAP. Although the gap may not be stated on AAP's website, Denso should have the plug gap on their website. The plug model number should ne on the plug itself, it'd be interested to know if the dealer used the correct plugs for your 2013 or if they used the plugs for the newer engines from 2016+. Got any pictures of the entire plug showing the plug model number?

Unfortunately no, put the one back in. When I take them back out I'll update with pics. I do know it was labeled FK20HBR11 and the center ring with the + signs said DENSO JAPAN JM + + + + +, the knock offs said CM instead of JM.

Never buy spark plugs from a dealer, go to Auto zone or any parts store & save some money on the same thing.

You need to verify the gap is correct before installing

Back again! Thank you for all your help. I was able to pick up Denso FK20HBR11 at my local Advanced Auto Parts and these are far more superior than those knock off ones I purchased from eBay. Lesson learned to save a buck. I have since reported it to eBay and requested a refund, seller immediately sent a prepaid label so he's going to find another sucker like me. I got all the plugs changed out but #1 has a tiny bit of oil/liquid on the threads, should I be worried about this?

1 has just a little bit of oil or some type of liquid on the threads, the rest were okay.

Measured the gap on the new spark plugs with a little play in the .040 but wouldn't fit into .044 based on the .043 recommendation from chinee's picture. Other forums say .044 so I'm not sure which one is right. I did not make any adjustments as those are how they came out of the box. I measured the old plugs .040 wouldn't fit but looks like it was measured for .035 as that barely squeezes between the gap.

If you get the spark plugs from the dealership based off your vin number you don't have to worry about measuring the gap or anything. I paid $12.98 per plug(mylparts.com) ordered with other parts. It's the same price or more at the local auto parts store.
