Tried starting the car with my remote start today came outside noticed it was not running but the lights were on. Open the door car unlocked. Nothing happens when I try to start it. If I press the brake pedal the key symbol pops up but it only goes to accessory mode. Any opinions?

I would try two things:
1) It is possible that the battery is going. Give it a jump and see if that helps. When my battery was going, the car wouldn't fire up or struggled to start up.
2) Hold the key fob really close to the start/stop button and try to start it up. Its possible that the car cannot detect the key and the battery needs to be changed.

I tried with the second key so the key battery shouldn’t be the issue. Currently I have aaa on the way so i will see if they have a jump box to use. Also the Drl lights are on

Well ended up removing then putting back the battery terminal and started right up. Unsure what when wrong but I got the battery tested after and it was said to be 50% charged and good which I found to be odd.

I can confirm. When the battery went very weak on mine, it wouldn't even turn over. You have to know it is a normal behaviour not to be surprised, I think it avoids frying a computer because of an undervoltage. You also have to use a very good quality booster pack, my RavPower didn't work. I didn't have a better one available so I've called the roadside assistance, and it worked with their truck.

Maybe just the terminal/connection was loose and putting it back caused a tighter connection. Possibly check for any corrosion as well. The summertime heat is really tough on the battery.

Check the terminals too, are they corroded? You need a good clean connection for the battery and electrical system. Our cars have to power a lot of things so its even more crucial. On higher mileage cars it could be the starter, but usually the starter is intermittent issues.

What if the remote start got into a weird state that was interfering w the startup routine?

What are the odds yesterday there was a update for the remote start app. Seems like that was the problem. And killed the battery at the same time since it drained it in 100 degree weather and the battery was old so that didn’t help. With a new battery in its all back to normal and no issues. Thanks for everyone’s input.
