I tried to put a piece of PPF on the top of the rear bumper of my GS...it was a disaster.

I thought about DIY and YouTube but I realized that there's no way I can get it to the near perfection of the pro installs.

Almost exactly the same thing except for top of back trunk - even the slightest curve messes you up!!

Go ALL IN on the hood. Don't PPF "partial" hood, or "1/3" hood, etc, do the FULL hood.

This is my 6th car with partial and I've never had an issue in 14 years, various cars, and different products. YMMV but if you aren't tailgating a dump truck or other vehicles on a highway the upper portion of the hood and quarters, in my experience, has been well protected

Full bumper, emblem, headlamps, a and b-pillars, 1/3 roof, mirrors, door cups, rocker panels, and rear cargo area. 1.5 days and $1696 with PA tax

I guess I need to ask the detail shop about the A-pillars, emblem.
Did you get them to do the lower bumper lip and the silver end pieces on the bumper?

Rear cargo area?
Is that were you'll have the Lexus film there already?

The chrome pieces don't take well to PPF so no

Headlamps are one piece down through the DRL's FWIW

Lower lip is a yes

The Lexus film is a small area. The one I got covers a good deal more just in case of a shopping bag, box, detailing bag, luggage or some jerks cart smacking it

A-pillars are worth it and a simple long piece that starts at the bottom and runs up to meet the roof section about 3 inches past the front portion of the sunroof

Do not forget the door cups. PITA for an installer to put on but worth it

Tinting is getting done Wednesday so I am looking forward to the results on that

One downside to filming the emblem is reducing the effectiveness of the radar cruise. Your car looks amazing MX!

Thanks!

I haven't had the chance to test the RCC but the lane departure still works. The data map had the emblem ready to go with the radar cruise option enabled when the patterns were cut. If it doesn't work right a hot day and a fingernail takes care of that problem

Your post was very valuable, I didn't think about the other items as well. The B-pillar as a very good idea also. I always get swirl marks on my vehicles at the B-pillar. I wonder what's the reasonable cost for that?

Wow, good pointer on effectiveness. My other vehicle had lots of rocks chips exactly on the emblem.

Maybe somebody can chime in on it more.

I was kind of worried about it. Guess I can try tomorrow. My wife's Mazda3 has RCC and her emblem is done as well. No interference since we used it on a trip today

No RCC interference. I used it on a section of highway today and set the cruise to 70. Upon approaching a MINI itslowed down as expected

The pictures with the PPF looks really glossy. Do you need ceramic coating to get the shine?
