Who else got the email: Lexus Enform Services | 3G Wireless Services Update?
I drive a 2017 that it’s going to be affected by this. What a buzz kill,
I really going to miss the features, so I guess the solution would be going aftermarket? Would you be able to lock and unlock with an aftermarket remote start and all that?

I got the email also. It's a bummer, but it is what it is - technology evolves. I only wish Lexus would have offered an upgrade from 3G so the service could be maintained for those who wished to do so.

that function is so weak, It only works when the fob is line sight/distance of the vehicle. It might be tied to the telemetry service because when you shut that service off, that fob function cease to work as well.

I dont know if the FOB remote start is also GSM dependent or thats just a feature that Lexus turns off once your subscription runs out. I remember after my subscription ran out, I was able to remote start my car with my FOB for about a week or so. The Remote App wont let me do anything at all, but the FOB was working for a little while, which makes me think that the two systems might be independent of each other. I guess we will find out in about two years.

I have after market auto start on FOB. My concern is losing the convenience of finding a destination on my phone and sending directly to car.

I received the email as well, even though I do not have a subscription.
I'm curious - did/does the 2020 GS 350 still use 3G or were things changed to 4G at some point? To me that would be inappropriate to have a new model car have a feature like that go out of service so quickly.
I agree that technology changes - I'm in the tech industry and things are always moving but 4G came out on the iPhone in 2012 so 4G could have easily been built into at least the 2016 refresh were it used 3G but had both radios as an option to make it one more generation - the newer cars could drop down to the 3G to match existing but then once 3G went away move over to 4G. In 2012 Verizon even mentioned shutting down their 3G in 2016 (which they later postponed until 2019) It's not like the information wasn't out there for Lexus to plan. I can see them using the older gen signal - they can probably get a better deal on what they pay the carriers and it's not like they really needed the latest and greatest for the service.
