I can't imagine what mine looks like right now. Is this something that's pretty easy and simple to change? OEM part or are aftermarkets totally equal or better?

Super easy to change.. lexus really did make it ez to maintain this car. I'd price out oem and then check out rockauto.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ir+filter,6832

I went with this one. ->> https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...503806&jsn=351

The one on the left wasnt even a year old.

Use aftermarket charcoal ones. Stops the fume smell from coming in.

I think the charcoal ones more given it works better with bad outside smell. The OEM that came with the car appears to be thicker than the Lexus OEM replacement ones.

Here's the ones if you want OEM.

This one appears thin when I purchased it.

It's probably this one for the thicker one.

Yea i'd go with the one i linked, i think it's roughly 15usd or so, just get that and replace it twice as often. Even some options cheaper than that on there.

Awesome! Thanks for the info everyone. I've heard cabin air filters in some cars are a nightmare to change and I love it when the designers think this stuff through. With the particulate from the smoke from the forest fires I'm thinking I may want to change both this and the engine air filter sooner rather than later. I'll check them out and see what they look like.

Engine air filter on the F Sport is a washable and reusable air filter, like the K&Ns... no oil needed though.

Thanks for the tip! So from what I saw looking this up - the non- F Sport ENGINE air filter looks sort of similar to the cabin one in terms of being that sort of tightly pleated white material. The F Sport ENGINE air filter looks to be a less tightly pleated blue material with something like a screen over it? I couldn't quite tell if the material was blue or the screen part was blue. I may have to go out and check this out on the car. I would assume the car would have the correct filter given it's a CPO but you never know what someone may have done.

When I was looking at parts some of them had the filter listed as 2013-2016? Did they change something about it in 2017 or is that just a person not knowing exactly what they're advertising?

Recently replaced mine. I thought it would help with the *** smell that came out of the air conditioner when first starting the car (it didn't).

Previous owner installed an O'Reilly MicroGard 4097 (on the right). Lexus OEM is on the left.

This is a maintenance item that needs replacing the same as the engine air filter. It's basic maintenance...

You've got an evaporator microbe/mold issue. Very common and easy to remedy but requires an ongoing change in habits with ac use. There are a ton of threads out there but basically you need to perform an initial cleaning through the external air intake to kill the existing mold/microbe growth and then run the HVAC fan with the ac off for about 10 minutes after turning off the ac. That could be while driving or parked but needs to be done everytime to prevent stagnant water in the evaporator which will result in the microbe growth.

Sometimes just running the heat on full blast for 10-15 minutes can work. It worked in my wife's NX but not my GS.
