Thanks. It’s really just a waiting game. Ultimately more satisfying than go buying something readily available in the market.

My 2015 GS was Atomic Silver and I loved it. When my lease was up and I decided to purchase another GS, I really wanted another Atomic Silver but chose Smokey Granite Mica as I figured that, if I'm getting the same car, I ought to at least get a different color.

While my 19 GS was awesome, and SGM is a beautiful color, I kept getting envious when I saw other GSs around in Atomic Silver.

Today I rectified that.

Traded in my 19 for a 20. Exactly the same car other than the color. I got a reasonable discount on the 2020 which, combined with the current 0% financing, meant I basically kept the same payment but will have this one paid off earlier than had I kept the 19.

It feels great to have AS again!

How did you get a payoff on 20 that ends sooner than your 19....Enjoy the new car and the great color!!!

My 19 was on a 7 year/84 month loan. The 20 is on a 5 year/60 month loan. I never should have done the 84 month loan, but the rates were the same as going down to 72 months, so I just took the longer term and paid extra each month. I'll probably continue to pay extra each month, though the motivation isn't really there now because I won't be saving any interest in doing that.

If u pay off an 84-month loan in 60 or sooner, there's no penalty right? Did u go with LFS?

Correct, LFS does not have any penalties for paying off early. And yes, both the old and new ones were financed with LFS.

In California and 7 other states, trade-ins don't get tax credit. So even if you're able to score an even trade for a newer model year, you still lose out by paying full sales tax.
I'd be going thru more vehicles frequently if I didn't live in ca.

The tax can indeed be a killer. My 15 was a lease, so I just returned it, but then I didn't have a trade in so I had to pay full taxes on it, which were near 11%, so the sales tax on my 19 was around $6500. This time, my 19 was a trade in, so it reduced my tax bill down to about $1500. Not being able to use a trade in to reduce taxes stinks.

This problem is easy to solve......move to Oregon....we don't have sales tax

Given the rates were equal doing the longer loan but paying extra can be a smart way to go if you're the type of person who will honestly do the extra. If you do it right you don't pay any more in interest and you have the flexibility if you have a major emergency or become unemployed. My financial advisor has suggested a similar thing for refinancing the house - instead of a 15yr, get the 30 but pay it off like a 15. The issue here is that the rates aren't equal so it gets a little more muddied by the time you put in all the closing costs, etc... and the fact that the current 30 is already at a pretty decent rate from refinancing back under the HARP IV program. Some financial advisors would argue that if you have a zero interest loan you should not pay extra and should either pay off other debt or invest the money in something that will give you a decent return ( like that really exists any more), or possibly add to your retirement.

Note: I'm not trying to be preachy here...just filling in the logic for those who might be reading but haven't been as lucky as me. I had family and some great friends along the way to teach me about finances and money and I know also from first hand experience there are a lot of people who have not been so lucky and constantly struggle. My hope is that this at least gives someone a bit of knowledge to ask some more questions and do a little more research should that be of interest to them.

Yes they did.

https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=NZ

New one registered in Aug 2020. This one is the last GS450h sold in NZ.

Month of manufacturing would be July 2020. We get them fresh as no dealer holds any stock of these low volume cars.

I'm not going anywhere with my 19, no good deals around here. This baby is staying for a while. lol
2016-2020 is the exact same. I have the 2018 Ultra White with Flaxen interior without the Triple Beam lights. I may trade for a 2020 so that I can have the Triple beam lights long as it’s Ultra White and has the Triple Beam lights, but this time I’ll drop the ML system.

Hi MOB561!
For the most part 2016+ are the same but the group has been tracking some tiny minor obscure changes that, for the most part, many people might not even care about...like the grocery bag hook in the trunk being removed in I think 2018, the negative battery terminal cover also going away in 2018 or 2019, and the USB cover in the console disappearing in the 2020. So be aware....if you really like that USB cover in your 2018 you'll have to do without if you get a 2020....No discussion yet on whether or not its an easy mod if you really have to have it!
