Good morning everyone, hope you’re all doing great.
I recently purchased a 2019 GS F-sport. I absolutely love the car. One thing I noticed on hard pulls I hear a whining/ gear noise. It sounds like the car has a supercharger (I wish)
I suspect this is a normal noise???
can anyone verify their car does this? Again it’s only hard pulls.... full throttle and run threw a few gears it can be heard.

Isn't that the car just holding the gear at high rev since you're pushing it? /methinks

 

What drive mode are you in? Sports+ holds the gear which keeps the revs high so upon reengagement of the accelerator, the power curve is still there to receive the burst of power. The sports+ feature keeps the car transmission shifting high in the rpm range so there is a whining sound which should be engine rpm driven sounds. Like the member said, "the car holding the gear at high revs"

 

come to think of it I’m using sport plus. I’ll ha e to pay attention and try it in different modes. I believe y’all may be on to something.

 

I think you're just hearing the gears in the transmission. It does sound like a supercharger at times.

I think it's the alternator pulley

 

No, it's a hidden supercharger that Lexus put in our engines. How do u think this GS can keep up with other newer and faster (on paper) cars?

 

It is normal. I heard this on my IS as well.

Yes I get same noise - first time I heard it freaked me out going up hill thought transmission problem but reading everyone seems to report same noise.

something between a supercharger and fake induction sound - it’s much louder engine then I thought it would be when accelerating no smart electronics for the mode selector
